C'mon! CtC can't be right! You're crazy!

If CtC were actually right,

it would mean the government's been concealing and denying the truth for years on end,

and everybody knows THAT would never happen...

(Edward Snowden, come home! It was all just a bad dream; there really is No Such Agency!)

Do you know someone truly steeped in the Kool-Aid?

I mean someone who finds it easier to believe that the far-better-educated, far-more-suspicious-of-government Americans of a hundred years ago were complete morons who granted authority to the state to take whatever it wished from themselves and their posterity than to imagine that they themselves simply misunderstand the true nature of the income tax? Even while knowing that their beliefs about the tax are derived entirely from the representations of those who profit from those beliefs (like tax bureaucrats and "tax professionals")?

Do you know someone like that? Shake them awake with the latest (fifteenth) edition of CtC!

You can't understand the present if you don't understand the past...

Illuminating anniversaries of this week:

April 24- In 1184 BC, the people of Troy are fooled by avarice into being the means of their own undoing.  Presented with a magnificent giant wooden statue of a horse, the Trojans bring it within their city's walls.  When night falls, Greek warriors hidden within the statue slip out and open the gates of their enemy's stronghold, allowing their fellows who waited outside to pour in and conquer formerly impregnable Troy.  In 1800, President John Adams signs legislation appropriating $5,000 to establish a library of "such books as may be necessary for the use of Congress".  Now occupying three large buildings holding well over 32 million books and counting-- none of which circulate to the public, and the vast, vast majority of which never have been used by any Congressman and never will be-- and with an annual budget of over $600 million and a staff of more than 3,600, the Library of Congress is a fine example of a cancerous federal boondoggle...  In 1916, the phase of the Irish rebellion known as "The Easter Risings" begins.  In 1970, China puts its first satellite into orbit.  In 1990, the Hubble Space telescope is launched into orbit; and Gruinard Island, Scotland, the test site of weaponized anthrax by the British government during World War II, is declared safe after 48 years of quarantine.

Anniversaries of interest for each day of this week will be found throughout the newsletter below.

What You Do Really Matters

Your children, at least, are relying on you to preserve their heritage of a limited republic dedicated to liberty and the rule of law.

IN HIS 1776 MASTERPIECE 'An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations', (and other of his writings, as well) Adam Smith explains the concept of the "invisible hand" by which each individual looking out solely for his or her own self-interest nonetheless organically supports and improves the well-being and prosperity of the whole community. America's founders and the framers of the United States Constitution, who were close students of Smith's work and wisdom, employed the same principle in their establishment of the federal tax structure.

That structure is designed to ensure that federal revenue reliance would necessarily be upon excises, imposts and duties, the incidences of which are entirely within the control of each individual citizen. Because each citizen naturally attends to his or her own financial well being by limiting such incidences, the Founders' structure, like a mighty invisible hand energized by hundreds of millions of individual self-interests, relentlessly keeps the state lean and on the leash-- when that structure is functioning as intended and is not nobbled by ignorance and Leviathan-serving mythology and disinformation.

We had the benefit of that disciplinary dynamic during our first 140 years or so. Then, in the early 1940s, we blew it.

Under the influence of the strange mass psychology of wartime, the residual effects of a decade of depression, the increasingly sophisticated "consent-engineering" begun during World War I, a relentless and unscrupulous disinformation and propaganda campaign by progressives in academia and the media and other factors, Americans succumbed to a bold subterfuge by an ambitious power-and-revenue-hungry Washington. The subterfuge involved the exploitation of what had, thanks to all those factors mentioned above in conjunction with Congressional adoption of a couple of statutes cleverly-designed to maximize confusion, become a very widespread misunderstanding of the true nature of the income tax.

As can be seen by tracking the size of the federal government over the years, the success of this subterfuge was the most significant event in American history:

Rolling things back to the pre-subterfuge status quo will be the second most significant event in American history-- this time a positive one.

Here is how it will play out again once enough Americans have recovered an accurate understanding of US Constitutional tax provisions and the actual statutory structure of the income tax, which fully conforms to those provisions and their state-disciplining purpose:

THE STATE IS ONCE AGAIN RESTRAINED. Forced to operate on an actual budget, the federal government has to pick and choose what activities are most critically important and of genuine near-universal interest to the people. There is no expensive army of two million arrogant bureaucrats justifying their fat paychecks by contriving rationalizations for interfering in the lives of the rest of us, backed by another hugely expensive army of 100,000 attorneys with the leisure and funding to figure out ways to evade the law on behalf of every ambition of an unrestrained State.

Washington is unable to evade the fiscal discipline of a tax structure confined to its actual subjects and its Constitutional limitations. It cannot and will not turn to inflation because that gimmick is too unavoidably noticeable and too guaranteed to arouse ire, even when fiat money is being otherwise tolerated-- something which itself is a good deal less likely among a population with an understanding of the "income" tax.

Nor is Washington able to borrow excessively. Its restrained circumstances are widely recognized, and it is known to be a sketchy credit risk, having already been forced to repudiate or drastically restructure its previous debt.

Efforts to expand federal revenues by heavier reliance on obnoxious and legally-dubious mechanisms like "asset forfeiture" or excessive fees or fines backfire. Increased resort to these draws correspondingly increased public attention to them, as well, resulting in the welcome reform or repeal of the abused and abusive processes long before the abuse has any chance of meaningfully re-energizing Leviathan.

Instead, the federal government has resumed reliance in large part on an across-the-board (non-protectionist) revenue tariff for financing its activities. Because of the State's need to maximize the take from this practice, even imports by American-based companies from their own "off-shore" production facilities are subjected to the tax. The incentives for off-shoring jobs has thus been re-balanced in favor of keeping those jobs local.

At the same time the cost of manufacturing locally (and therefore the price-point required for locally-made products) has been dramatically reduced by the melting away of the hugely expensive, stifling and petty regulatory state by which American operations had been burdened. More jobs are staying in this country, and many are returning here.

ALL IN ALL, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE are back to dealing with, and enjoying the benefits of, a lean federal government once again constrained to its core Constitutional purposes as WE meant (and mean) them to be understood-- if only because it hasn't got the resources to misbehave. We are back to the government of the turn of the twentieth century, when government at all levels combined consumed less than 10% of our wealth, and when it was observed that an American could go his entire life without any contact with a federal official other than the guy who delivered his mail.

At this point the federal government takes in-- and spends no more than-- around $1 trillion or so annually. The amount is rising as the overall economy grows ever-more vigorous since being freed of the enormous drag of a bloated non-productive sector and the crippling distortions of constant political interference, but it's proportion of the GDP is falling toward an historical average of 4% or so. (This federal revenue figure could and would adjust as needed if America suffered a disaster of some kind, or got invaded by a foreign power-- something so unlikely as to be laughable, but which theoretically could happen. In such a case the American people can be relied upon to contribute whatever is necessary in blood, sweat and treasure to deal with the situation-- before once again closing their purses).

Perhaps $150 billion of that notional $1 trillion is being spent on maintaining our already enormous strategic deterrent/response capability and keeping up an appropriately-sized rapid-deployment defense force. This is still more than any other country on the planet spends on its military-- indeed, it's more than double what Russia spent this year.

The tight-belted United States has ended the expensive practice of garrisoning troops all over the world by which you and I subsidize the economies of foreigners by sparing them the costs of defending themselves. We're also done delivering enormous subsidies to the munitions manufacturers simply to acquire a gross excess of killing capability which ends up used to murder people in other countries and generate massive hatred toward you and I, the folks who had allowed and paid for all of this.

The CIA has reverted from being a secret parallel war department and returned to intelligence-gathering and evaluation. Valueless, expensive and obnoxious gestures like the TSA (which demonstrably protects no one from anything except convenience, comfort and courtesy when traveling) have fallen by the wayside. Police departments are no longer being militarized by donations from the federal war machine of tanks, assault rifles, grenades, drones, and other equipment.

THE REST OF WHAT WASHINGTON TAKES IN goes to maintaining the courts and the government infrastructure, delivering the mail, and other Constitutionally-mandated responsibilities. Nothing is left over for gratuitous or politically-motivated messing-about with the average Americans' pursuit of happiness.

Organic food and "alternate medicine" producers and consumers are no longer prosecuted. People using their own property in ways that produce no demonstrable harm to anyone are no longer victimized for merely offending some bureaucratic purpose and edict.

The financial affairs of most Americans are no longer subject to constant intrusive scrutiny and reporting; you can throw a stone in Washington DC without hitting twenty lobbyists; ministers no longer feel obliged to censor themselves politically in order to preserve a tax-related status about which no one cares anymore. Journalists no longer wish to be courtiers to what is no longer an imperial immensity and which no longer has something to say or do about everything under the sun.

As in the case of the "income" tax generally, only a small fraction of the American people are subjected to "Obamacare"-style taxes and burdens, where key application definitions invoke strictly limited terms direct from the Internal Revenue Code. Indeed, the health-care industry, no longer wildly distorted from market disciplines due to misunderstood "pre-tax" compensation structures in the workplace and a massive federal involvement as a third-party-payer, has seen prices plummet and service and innovation skyrocket. It is no longer possible to manage even a pretense that any but the country's tiny handful of outright "safety-net" dependents are unable to afford health care on their own...

I COULD GO ON AND ON. But really, you can do so yourself. All you have to do to get a good sense of how this plays out is consider a federal government with strict limits on its resources, allowing for a total of about one-fifth as much as it has now. Keep in mind that people are going to continue to push for expenditures on what is important to them, so the things that get done are going to very much be the fairly small number of truly important things on which majorities of the American people actually agree-- functional courts; adequate and rational defense; a compassionate but disciplined "safety net"; and a few others.

DO think about it, please. The picture you bring to mind will NOT be a 'pie-in-the-sky' vision. Instead it will actually be a photograph of how this country was just a few decades ago, and how it easily can be again. All that is necessary is for understanding of the truth about the tax to spread, and all that is necessary for that to happen at this point is for everyone who already knows that truth to stand up loud and proud in word and deed.

Illuminating anniversaries of this week:

April 25- In 1846, a U.S. patrol excursion across the Texas border into Mexico precipitates the Mexican-American War.  In 1859, ground is broken for the Suez Canal.  In 1898, the United States declares war on Spain, using the pretext of the mysterious sinking of the USS Maine in a Cuban harbor.  The war resulted in U.S. claims of ownership of the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico, and a more limited sovereignty over Cuba.  In 1916, Britain declares martial law in Ireland in response to the Easter Uprisings.  In 1953, the structure of DNA is described.  In 1961, the integrated circuit is patented.  In 1983, Pioneer 10, launched March 2, 1972, passes the orbit of Pluto.

An Open Letter To President Trump-- Updated

A little "flyover country" wisdom that I hope'll do you some good...

PRESIDENT TRUMP, borrowing an aphorism from the heartland in which will be found an awful lot of the folks who put you in office, you've got to dance with the one that brung ya if you want sustained political success, or even just viability.

Right now your toddler of an administration is beset from all sides. You need all the friends you can get, and that means you need to keep and cultivate those who reached out to you and reached out for you in order to put you where you are today.

Let me tell you how to do that:

STOP WITH THE "REPEAL AND REPLACE" GIBBERISH ABOUT OBAMACARE! No one who got excited about your candidacy did so because they imagined you (or Paul Ryan) had a better plan for government control of healthcare's 17% of the economy. They did so because you made them believe you were going to yank that 17% back out of the jaws of Leviathan and let it resume its proper place in the free market from which Obama had kidnapped it.

We don't want any replacement! We want you to repeal Obamacare and, optimally, continue by repealing every other tentacle of the state wrapped around any aspect of the medical, healthcare and health insurance fields.

See this for guidance. Following these prescriptions will provide a huge boost in prosperity to everyone except government bureaucrats, doctors, hospitals, HMOs and big insurance companies. That means: "big boost in prosperity for 300 million Americans" at the expense of reduced luxury benefits from a rigged-system to the small fraction remaining. Do the math.

Restoring every aspect of medicine to the complete free market will do you a world of political good. It's also not only the right thing to do from a statesmanship perspective, but the right thing to do from a moral perspective, too. Rent-seeking by special interests is always evil.

SCRAP THESE INSANE PLANS TO INCREASE MILITARY SPENDING! You should be cutting military spending!!

Want to refresh and renew exhausted resources? That's fine.

Do it by resolving to have fewer of them altogether, like, say, about 3/4 of what we have now. Then spend part of the funding surplus that results from that reduction on polishing up that 75% 'til it shines brightly, while paying down the national debt with the rest.

Restore the Department of Defense's mission to DEFENSE. No more messing in other people's backyards (or living rooms, as would be a more apt description of the evils visited upon the world by the demonic neocons who have controlled United States foreign policy for the last 37 years or so).

Your base was yours because it believed you meant to do just what I've described-- pull in the bloody horns and start the settle-back from rampaging Hulk to restrained Bruce Banner. Let's face it. We don't need the Hulk.

America is absolutely invulnerable to any kind of military threat. A little terrorism might happen here or there, but that kind of thing cannot be stopped no matter how much "stamping-out" is attempted, and the math doesn't work.

The money sucked out of the economy for a massive military cuts what people can spend on looking after themselves and what can be spent publicly on keeping infrastructure safe. I can't prove it, but I'd bet that more Americans have died in the last 17 years because of crappy roads or an inability to afford air-conditioning than have been killed by terrorists (or Russians).

If you factor in all our young men and women killed or grievously wounded doing all that Hulking-around, the obscene imbalance is even worse.

Here's the bottom line: The people who put you in office don't give a damn about whether Sunnis or Shias control the Middle East, or whether Assad stays in power in Syria or not. They would rather Israel and Egypt and Saudi Arabia make peace with their neighbors and their own citizens than be protected from having to do so by American arms and American foreign aid. And they couldn't care less about the success of the Nazis currently running Western Ukraine, or the fate of the Baltic states, or Montenegro.

Your base neither hates nor fears Russia, China, or Iran. They don't even worry about North Korea.

Pull in those damn horns, boot every war-monger out of your administration, and cultivate honest peace and friendship with all nations and entangling alliances with none. You will renew the support of your enthusiastic base and even capture a whole lot of new supporters.

DROP THE HYPERVENTILATED ISLAMAPHOBIA! It makes you sound like an hysterical middle-school girl. It also makes you sound like you're plagued with inner uncertainties.

Jefferson once observed that actual truth doesn't need censorship or oppression to help it defeat lies. The same principle applies here, and this is the picture it paints: Anyone who wants to forcibly suppress a religion is admitting that he doesn't think his own religion can win on its virtues.

Shame on you.

Further, neither I nor anyone I know has ever been harmed here in America by a Muslim as a result or as an expression of that person being a Muslim. But EVERYONE I know has been harmed by the "national security state" apparatus set up or sustained on the pretext of protecting us all from Islam.

The only threats anyone here might face from people who happen to be Muslim would be because we have been breaking into their homes and killing them for about the last 70 years. If we had been treating the Swiss and the Swedes the way we have treated Iranians, Iraqis and Palestinians over the same 70 years, we'd have as much to fear from them as we do now from our Muslim victims. Would you then be rousing the rabble against "the evils of Lutheranism"?

C'mon, President Trump. Don't be that kind of a demagogue.

Have your travel ban, if you like, but be upfront. Squarely state that it isn't because we fear Islam, but because we fear blowback, and because what blowback might be coming our way just happens to be from mostly Muslim countries.

DROP THE DAMNED WAR ON DRUGS! What the hell is wrong with you, flogging this now-nearly 50-year-old assault on liberty on for yet more laps? Do you not realize this is just a job-security program for a giant chunk of law-enforcement and prison industry workers AND for drug dealers as well?

At the same time, you can't possibly think it is actually curbing drug use, unless you've been "using" yourself and the thinking-cap has gotten a bit askew. The evidence to the contrary is all around and unmistakable, not least in the very fact that we're fifty years into this thuggishness.

Wars that drag on for fifty years are wars that have been lost. After all the money and destruction of that "war", drugs are just as available as ever. And at higher potencies and lower prices, to hear your own drug warriors tell it.

GET GOING ON THE PROSECUTIONS of the criminals infesting the last few administrations. You campaigned on "draining the swamp". You do that, in large part, by punishing last year's swamp creature for his or her crimes. Only the deterrence effect of punishing last year's crimes makes the waters in Washington undesirable to the kind of creatures we don't want there anymore.

Why hasn't James Clapper been clapped in irons yet for his perjury? Where is the indictment for Hillary Clinton and her cronies for violating her security duties in order to make political use of government secrets (among other things)? What about the people who tortured Chelsea Manning for years during [her] custody?

ISSUE A BIG "WHAT WAS I THINKING?!" MEA CULPA about your attack on Syria and get all Americans out of there! You have violated the Constitution with this act! You need to be impeached for this.

Your only hope for legitimately continuing in office-- whether impeached or not-- lies in some serious back-peddling and a good deal of humble remorse over having let yourself be misguided into this crime by the nut-case war-mongers with which you have foolishly surrounded yourself.

Further, this act of military aggression was not only a war crime but it was predicated on a manifestly false pretext, making you look either foolish or a co-conspirator with the purveyors of the false-flag lies about Assad being responsible for the atrocity in Khan Sheikhoun. Both possibilities are shameful, but foolish is a WHOLE lot better than co-conspirator.

Denounce these false-flag conspirators! Do you not understand that they are the very swamp creatures whose habitat you vowed to drain in order to drive them from Washington? With this Syria faux pas you have crossed a lot of red lines, Mr. Trump. BACK UP, and smartly.

ONE LAST CRITIQUE (for now), that'll really help you defend yourself against your tormentors and underminers: Catch on to the fact that the Freedom Caucus, and what it holds dear, outperforms you with your base, politically. Justin Amash beat your numbers in his district last November by 8 points.

Show some fidelity to the policies you pitched during the campaign, and pitch some extra good woo toward that 8 points-worth of activist Americans that are found all over the country, and you could spank Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi right back into their progressive snake-pits.

***

NOW, ON THE OTHER HAND, you HAVE gotten a bunch of things right for your real base, too, and they merit pointing out. Your "dump two regs for every new one adopted" thing is outstanding-- in principle, anyway. Make it really happen as advertised!

Your plan to defund the NEA, CPB, GCCI and numerous other boondoggles, is great, too. And your proposal to cut many other agencies and programs pretty deeply (by Washington standards) makes every liberty-loving American's heart sing.

This is all good. Make it all much, much better by defunding the agencies that spy on all of us all the time, and the ones that seize property from people who've been convicted of nothing, in what are really nothing more and nothing less than street-thug-grade shakedowns. Get rid of the TSA, too, and every other "security theater" money-suck.

Your apparent embodiment of the contempt most thinking people have for the statist-infested "main-stream-media" pressitutes (I'll tell any lie you want for A-list status at your next Georgetown party, big boy...") is most admirable and appreciated. The same for what we think is your genuine disdain for the "intelligence industry".

We've all looked with favor on your political support for Brexit and the impulse that drives it. Do more of that! Support secession movements everywhere and always, and you will be loved.

FINALLY, let me remind you, Mr. President, of a couple of things on which you campaigned (or at least promised to do) which were very helpful in boosting your numbers. Actually pursuing these worthy goals will be very helpful to you now, as well.

Re-investigate (or really, investigate for the first time) 9/11. Everyone on the planet knows the official story is a steaming pile of bull-deuces. A lot of us care.

Audit the Fed. A lot of us care about that, too.

Best Wishes,

-Pete Hendrickson

Illuminating anniversaries of this week:

April 26- In 1607, English colonists make landfall at Cape Henry, Virginia before going on to establish Jamestown.  In 1865, Confederate General Joseph Johnson surrenders to Union General William Tecumseh Sherman near Durham, North Carolina; and John Wilkes Booth is reportedly found and killed by Union cavalry troops in North Virginia.  In 1933, the Gestapo is established in Germany.  In 1982, a South Korean police officer spends eight hours using his department-issued weapons (and a few others selected from the police armory) systematically killing 57 civilians-- most in their homes, but the first three being the local telephone exchange operators.

Regarding Trolleries

(Deceitful efforts to discourage Americans from learning the truth about the "income tax")

FOR ALL THE YEARS SINCE 2003 when CtC was first published, the government has engaged in a concerted effort to frighten people away from its truths. This effort involves official government websites and press releases touting an occasional court ruling that appears to be at odds with some CtC-revelation (but without details sufficient to expose the real substance of the ruling)-- and sometimes even more mendacious behavior.

Are the presentations and resources offered on this site and in my other work of any value to you?

Tim Kendrick has posted a video on YouTube regarding donations. I didn't know what to do about it to begin with; I don't do what I do intending for anyone to feel obligated in any way.

But of course, no one IS obligated. I will continue to make my work freely-available here, and in my books for only the cost of a cheap paperback.

Thus, even though I post it here below, Tim's very thoughtful personal resolution and encouragement to others is just an invitation for consideration by those who may not be conscious of the fact that I can't do what I do without support. No one is to feel any pressure from it; if it moves anyone to act let it be solely because it seems right.

Why Does The Government Lie About 'Cracking the Code'?

THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION is the key to the restoration of the republic and the rule of law in America. See it below. (NOTE: It's very important that the entire 24 minutes be viewed.)

This video can also be found on YouTube at https://youtu.be/hgzzYl-eeUI.

Here are links to the two pages to which viewers are directed at the end of the film: The Crime of the Century and The Truth About The 16th Amendment.

The other two mentioned in the film are this one (the "bulletin board" stack of 1,200 or so posted refunds and other victories in knowledgably applying the law; and this one (the collection of resisted claims and the outcomes of those little battles).

PLEASE be a real activist about sending this link to every single person in your address book, and about sharing it through facebook, reddit, twitter, and any other distribution channel with which you are familiar. Send it to every journalist you can. It's time to really make something happen.

Accompany your emails and posts with with a strong admonishment to watch the film through, and that doing so will show the viewer an individual-empowering, state-restraining truth about the income tax which the government has been trying to keep hidden from view for 75 years and which that person really needs to know.

BY THE WAY, as is impossible to miss, I have neither the skills nor the tools to make even moderately good films. This is simply not my forte. Anyone able to do better is encouraged to talk to me about that.

True American Joe Black Testifies And Shares Victories For Liberty And The Rule Of Law

...as every American should...

EDUCATED AMERICAN GROWN-UP JOE BLACK has stood up and acted to enforce the law upon its domestic enemies-- or, at least, upon agencies of the state whose operators seem to happily exploit ignorance and mis-apply the law at every chance for their personal benefit. Get inspired and encouraged by Joe's video sharing his spirit, his testimony and the acknowledgements he has secured:

Two Simple Questions For Every Silent "Alt-Media" Journalist

The silence of these folks is the liberation bottleneck. Maybe this'll help, if enough people ask...

HERE'S A SIMPLE QUESTION: The income tax is, and always has been, an excise tax on privilege. This is established beyond any controversy whatever by repeated Supreme Court rulings, the words of the related laws, and, since 2003, by hundreds of thousands of acknowledgements by federal and state tax agencies.

You, like most folks, have been fooled into inadvertently agreeing that your economic activities are exercises of privilege, thereby allowing the tax to be applied to your earnings. Why is this so hard for you to admit?

HERE'S ANOTHER SIMPLE QUESTION: You and everyone else being fooled into agreeing that your economic activities are privileged and thereby allowing them to be taxed is what enables the flow of wealth that finances all the bad things done by the state of which you complain in every column. Why is this so hard for you to admit?

I GUESS THESE ACTUALLY LEAD TO A THIRD SIMPLE QUESTION: If you really feel that all these things of which you complain are so bad, why are you not helping more Americans understand the true nature of the tax and the ill effects of it being misunderstood and misapplied?

*****

PRO TIP: By the physics of the law, an indirect tax is necessarily a privilege tax. Here's why:

The distinction between a direct tax and an indirect tax is incidence. A direct tax arises by the direct imposition of the taxer, without any election of the taxed (other than that of authorizing the taxing power in the first place).

An indirect tax arises by the taxed choosing t to to to to do something by which the taxer's claim is then created. The choice that is a valid object of an indirect tax can't be anything done as an exercise of an untaxable right. Nor can it be any activity of necessity. A tax on anything done by necessity would arise not by actual election of the taxed but simply because the tax had been imposed by the taxer. Such a tax, whatever it may be called, would be in actual substance a direct tax, even if one that arose only intermittently. Think of a tax on eating, for example, or working, or engaging in trade with others (all of which are things done by right as well as by necessity, but you get the point).

What is left as the valid object of an indirect tax is the exercise of privilege-- something done not by right, and therefore done by the permission of the taxer (who, due to being possessed of an ownership right in the thing being permitted, is entitled to claim of portion of the proceeds when the thing is profitably used).

"[Although the Legislature may declare as privileges and tax as such for State revenue purposes those pursuits and occupations that are not matters of common right], the Legislature has no power to declare as a privilege and tax for revenue purposes occupations that are of common right."

Sims v. Ahrens, 167 Ark. 557, 271 SW 720 594, 595 (Ark. 1925)

The 'Watching the Watchmen Amendment'

If you're not talking this one up everywhere and helping generate a buzz, you don't really want liberty and the rule of law...

PRO TIP: The argument that a concept explicitly given a statutory definition for purposes of this or that chapter or "title" has the same meaning as the common word the legislature has borrowed for its label-- which meaning plainly didn't suit the legislature's purposes, hence its replacement-- is a preposterous reading of the law.

“It is axiomatic that the statutory definition of the term excludes unstated meanings of that term.”

Meese v. Keene, 481 U.S. 465 (1987);

“[W]e are not at liberty to put our gloss on the definition that Congress provided by looking to the generally accepted meaning of the defined term.”

Tenn. Prot. & Advocacy Inc. v. Wells, 371 F.3d 342 (6th Cir. 2004).

In light of the actual evidence, those who doubt or deny the accuracy and correctness of CtC just because some government officials denounce it are like the 16th-century Europeans who were mystified by Copernicus getting all those astronomical predictions right even though the church had said he was wrong.

Media Evasion Of CtC Must End, Now

Time, unfortunately, is on the side of the well-funded disinformation specialists class

Illuminating anniversaries of this week:

April 28- In 1788, Maryland becomes the seventh state to ratify the United States Constitution.  In 1945, Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini is executed by fed-up Italian citizens.  In 1947, Thor Heyerdahl sets out from Peru bound for Polynesia on the Kon-Tiki raft to prove that it could be done.  In 1952, the post-World War II occupation of Japan ends after 6 1/2 years.  In 1996, President Bill Clinton testifies for the defense in the "Whitewater" land fraud, conspiracy and political corruption trial of his and Hillary's partners Jim and Susan MacDougall and then-Arkansas governor Jim Guy Tucker.

Are You Having Trouble Spreading The Word?

SKEPTICISM (SOMETIMES INVOKED BY FEAR) IS TO BE EXPECTED when you're trying to explain to someone that everything they've been encouraged their whole lives to believe about something as entrenched and significant as the income tax is basically nonsense. So here's a way to help cut through the resistance:

Ask your listener how he or she would react if you were to show an announcement from the Commissioner of Internal Revenue admitting that the tax doesn't apply to the earnings of most Americans and is misapplied most of the time because people don't understand how it works? Or how about if you showed a ruling from the Supreme Court saying the same?

Now you just have to explain that you're going to show exactly those things-- but because the state really doesn't want people to know this, these things haven't been said quite as forthrightly as we would all wish. It's going to take a bit more work to take these admissions in than is sufficient for just reading a press release. But it'll be worth the effort...

Trump's Not The New Hitler... He's The New Kaiser Bill

Germany’s Great War leader was a blustering, reckless gambler who took the world over the abyss. Sound familiar?

by Andrew J. Bacevich

All politicians wear masks. Donald Trump’s favourite is that of Maximum Leader. It was on display during this past week. ‘If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will,’ he said at the weekend, ahead of his meeting with Xi Jinping — a throwaway comment that could end up causing mayhem in the Far East. Next, his reaction to news of a chemical bombing in Syria. Trump blamed the atrocity on his predecessor’s ‘weakness and irresolution’, suggesting that he is keen to show the world what strength and resolve look like. The President, it seems, is not too dissimilar to the nightmare his political enemies warned us about: a nuclear-armed hothead itching to show the world how tough he is.

Since Trump’s election, talk of fascism on the rise in America is omnipresent — 241 years after declaring independence, the United States finds itself compared to the Weimar Republic, which lasted barely a decade. Serious observers liken Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, with others casting his strategist Steve Bannon or press spokesman Sean Spicer (take your pick) as Joseph Goebbels. Mein Kampf (presumably in English translation) is said to serve as Trump’s ‘playbook’. Trumpism, we are told, is repackaged Nazism.

As with so many earlier bouts of American political paranoia — recall that Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower were each denounced as tools of international communism — this one has its comic aspects. Yet silliness aside, comparisons between Trump and Hitler are unhelpful. Rather than furthering our understanding of the Trump presidency, they impede it. What we confront is troubling enough.

Still, there remains something irresistible about dredging up bits of the past to explain the present, especially when colourful personalities are involved. So let me propose an alternative to those who see Trump as Hitler sans the moustache (although retaining the bad haircut). Stick with Germany, its villainous past making it an agreeable foil for us Anglo-Saxons. Rather than focusing on the Third Reich, however, consider the Second. That’s right: Donald Trump as Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Now ask yourself this: Have I really done all that I can to urge everyone I know to also stand up and act in the only way that will really bring about change in my lifetime?

Even as ardent a statist as Abraham Lincoln, in announcing his willingness to burn the Southern states to the ground in order to keep them paying the tariff for the benefit of Northern interests in his first inaugural address on March 4, 1861, paid at least lip service to the Founders design of leaving control over the fuel available to feed the fires Washington wants to light in the hands of the individual citizenry when he said, "Doing this I deem to be only a simple duty on my part; and I shall perform it, unless my rightful masters, the American people, shall withhold the requisite means..."

About The Author

Pete Hendrickson is possibly the most effective lawyer in history, even while never having set foot in a law school, nor ever being a card-carrying member of "the bar". He is the first American in history to secure a complete refund of Social Security and Medicare ‘contributions’ withheld from his earnings (along with all other property taken for federal taxes); further, since 2003 students of his legal analyses and arguments in ‘Cracking the Code- The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America’’ (CtC), and its sequel, 'Was Grandpa Really a Moron?' have been routinely retaining and recovering billions of dollars which otherwise-- wrongly, but as a matter of course-- would have gone to federal or state government treasuries. This despite concerted efforts by government to suppress his work, and in some cases vigorously oppose the claims by his students.

Hendrickson is also a widely-read essayist on matters of politics, public policy and law; many of these works are collected in his second book, ‘Upholding the Law And Other Observations’. He is a member of Mensa; an award-winning artist; and has paid his dues as a youth soccer coach. He is a long-time political activist as well, and has served as co-chair and platform convention delegate of Michigan’s largest county Libertarian Party organization; as a consultant to the National Right to Work Foundation and Citizens for a Sound Economy; as a member of the Heartland Institute; and as a member of the International Society for Individual Liberty. He is a frequent radio-show guest on stations across the country.

Hendrickson's business career has included nearly a decade-and-a-half at the leading edge of the renewable-energy industry, both as Director of Purchasing and Materials Management and member of the R&D board at Starpak Energy Systems, the mid-west's then-largest solar heating and energy-recovery-and re-utilization company; and as founder and president of AFJ Inc., a high-efficiency lighting design, manufacture and installation firm.

Beginning in the mid-1990s and continuing for the twelve years before his present full-time focus on the restoration of the rule of law in America, Hendrickson directed purchasing activities for the $84 million-a-year multi-family-housing division of the Farmington Hills, Michigan branch of Edward Rose and Sons, with responsibility for 18,000+ apartments, direct supervision of 35 technicians and agents, and incidental authority over several hundred divisional workers. He also ran the division's 10 cable television earth-station and distribution systems in four states, and designed and administered the company's website.

On rather the other end of the spectrum, amidst these more mundane pursuits Hendrickson co-founded and was the primary creative force behind a small board- and card-game company that enjoyed a modest success for several years.

Hendrickson makes his home in southeast Michigan, with his wife and two children. He is currently working on his next book.
