"The Press" In The First Amendment Doesn't Mean "Members Of The Press"

...and the real target of "Russiagate" has always been Julian Assange.

A HUGE INUNDATION OF EYEWASH is coming down like brown rain on the American people, courtesy of the Empire and its apparatchiks. All of it is meant to demonize Julian Assange with spurious assertions that the Russian government attacked our electoral process and Assange helped them do it.

The object of the cognitive assault is to soften American brains in advance of Assange's intended show trial, conviction and ultimate evisceration.

The Mueller report-- the release of which was roughly coincident with Assange's seizure from the Ecuadorian embassy in London--is the current major power-source for the Assange smear. But the Russian/Assange attack bullsh*t has been polluting the landscape since 2016, when Assange published the emails showing that Hillary Clinton and cronies in the DNC conspired to rig the Democrat nomination process in Clinton's favor at the expense of rival Senator Bernie Sanders.

It was probably at the point of that Clinton/DNC exposé that some sly Deep State officer first had the dark idea for the brilliant "Russiagate" theatrical, primarily deployed as a long-march weapon against Julian Assange but with multiple side benefits, as well.

CONSIDER: "RUSSIAGATE" GENERATED AN ARMY of mindless defenders for everything Trump did, simply because it appeared that he was being victimized by a groundless partisan political assault. The other wing of the statist vulture (the Democrats) also scored endless points with its own base for its strident attacks on a president who both sides pretended to be anti-establishment (something particularly abhorred by the Democrat rank-and-file).

All the while, of course, every DCver, of whichever label-- and no one more than Trump-- stayed the military-industrial-national-security-state course in every respect. Indeed, the deep state policies that have plagued America for the last thirty years have dramatically worsened during the entire "Russiagate" run.

Since Trump's election we have seen the abandonment of even a pretense of fairness in the Israeli-Palestinian issue in many different ways; the withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal and the IMF treaty with Russia; weapons deliveries to the Nazi regime in Ukraine; increased US military mucking about in Africa; an ever-more-ominous drumbeat for war with Iran (and maybe even Venezuela); and behavior toward Russia and China that seems calculated to bring the world to the brink of nuclear war. I could go on and on.

In short, while veiled from widespread public perception by the "Russiagate" distraction, Donald Trump has shown himself to be a masterful deep state officer. Despite a high volume of contradictory declarations throughout his time in office-- and the reformist-sounding rhetoric of his presidential campaign-- Trump has marched the United States more rapidly down the imperial/Leviathan/statist path than any of his predecessors.

I have seen it suggested by apologists that the policies pursued by Trump have been forced upon him by an adversarial Deep State, which was actually threatening him with the "Russiagate" charges. But the evidence belies this naive notion.

It is Trump who has seen Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, Jared Kushner, Nikki Haley and Elliot Abrams into their offices. It is Trump who ordered the launching of cruise missiles against Syrian government targets on transparently ridiculous accusations and without waiting for forensics.

Likewise, it is Trump who has vetoed the resolution to end support for Saudi Arabia's barbarisms in Yemen. It is Trump who has played along with the British poodle's Russia-baiting Skripal nonsense and expulsion of diplomats. It is Trump who has moved the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and cut-off all aid to the imprisoned and increasingly dispossessed and decimated Palestinians. It is Trump who... well, again, I could go on and on.

SO, HERE'S THE FLESHED-OUT PICTURE, AS I NOW SUSPECT IT TO REALLY BE: "Russiagate" has been a ploy to which Trump is likely a party. It has, after all, done him nothing but good by facilitating the implementation of Trump administration policies which, without the "Russiagate"-generated partisan passions and endless distractions, would have faced much more critical scrutiny by the American people.

The bitching and apparent resistance and opposition to the Mueller probe and all the rest has been just "Art of the Deal" pretense. Remember, Trump actually let Mueller's investigation proceed just as Mueller wished it to without ever exercising any of his considerable powers to thwart it. All he really did was launch endless threats and complaints into the air, keeping his own base fired up and distracted, and enraging and distracting the Democrat base.

Trump could have readily cut the probe short, or at least endeavored to do so, by using his bully pulpit and the passion of his base to make much of Comey and Mueller's failure to conduct any forensics on the DNC email servers, for instance.

Similarly, Trump could have seriously attacked the provenance of the "Steele Dossier", challenged the questioning of Michael Cohen, made a great deal about the utterly absurd allegations that the evidence presented in Mueller's IRA indictments prove Russian government efforts to influence the US elections, and much, much more. At the very least, such efforts would have diminished the political friction of the supposedly adversarial probe. But none of these things were done.

On the other side, Mueller carried on for two years despite never coming up with anything but ludicrous politically-timed "indictments" chock-full of unsupported accusations which are ridiculous on their faces and will never be tested in any event due to being directed at people in other countries. The nature of those lame drumroll fizzles would have made perfectly clear to anyone conducting a real investigation that there was nothing substantive to be found. Mueller persisting anyway, and trotting out the farcical announcements periodically, should make perfectly clear to the rest of us that he was just play-acting.

Mueller and James Comey's failure to interview Julian Assange or to forensically examine the DNC servers-- the alleged hacking of which is at the very heart of the purported investigation-- dramatically emphasize the falseness of the "Russiagate investigation".

Likewise, neither Mueller or Comey ever spoke to Chris Murray, the former British ambassador who had long-since declared himself to have delivered the thumb-drive full of emails to WikiLeaks. Nor has either ever addressed in any way the detailed expert forensic study by the organization of former CIA and NSA intelligence and cybertech specialists which definitively establishes that the DNC emails were not "hacked", but were instead copied onto a thumb-drive by someone with direct access (and someone who was in a position to know that smoking guns would be found among them, making the exercise worthwhile).

In short, there never really was a "Russiagate" investigation. The rabid Trump supporters will say, "Aha! Just like we thought, it's always just been a partisan, anti-Trump witch-hunt!" But that is to get taken-in by the deep game. "Russiagate" was never an anti-Trump thing. The pretense has been a co-production of Trump, his people, his alleged opposition, and the deep state machine, all of whom benefitted, as outlined above.

BUT EVEN FACILITATING TRUMP'S CONTINUATION of the long-standing bi-partisan policies against which he mendaciously ran in order to gain office is not "Russiagate's" purpose, just as blind hatred of Trump has never been behind it at the upper levels at which actual decisions get made about such things. "Russiagate's" real purpose has always been the set up of the take-down of Julian Assange.

As much as the record of events over Trump's time in office amply shows that he has never been any kind of threat to the swamp-creatures, the record, for ten years now, has amply shown Julian Assange IS a real threat to the statist-quo. It is on Assange's head that the "Russiagate" crosshairs have been resting, not Donald Trump's.

The object of the exercise has been falsely smearing Assange as an enemy of the American people due to his alleged participation in an alleged Russian attack on the integrity of our electoral process.

Both allegations deployed against Assange are pure fictions, of course. Not only are both entirely unsupported by any credible evidence, but both are belied by the evidence that is is hand. This includes the particulars of Mueller's own indictment allegations against what is clearly a private Russian spamming and scamming operation which put out a bit of click-bait in the course of a paltry amount of Facebook advertising purchases and twitter account creations (but which Mueller tries to portray as a Russian government election interference scheme), as well as the forensic evidence that the DNC emails released by WikiLeaks were actually downloads onto a thumb-drive, not hacks.

OKAY, SO THAT LONG BIT ABOVE has been the extended preamble to the real substance of this article. In it, I have taken the opportunity to provide a little oft-forgotten backstory to this sordid affair, and to air my notions about Trump's actual collusion having been with the folks behind "Russiagate" (and in response to which I will be happy to see comments here).

But my real focus in this piece is the foam-mouthed abuse of language and law being conducted right now by anti-Assange voices. In particular, I want to discuss the corrupt spin by these hacks meant to convince folks in fly-over country that the phrase "the press" in the First Amendment to the US Constitution is a reference to some class of actors, or an institution.

But "the press" is neither a class of persons, or a profession, or an institution. In fact, the phrase has a perfectly mundane and far more significant and powerful meaning than any of these things.

What the phrase means is simply "the printing press". The First Amendment prohibition of any law abridging the freedom of the press stands against any government act inhibiting the willingness or ability of anyone to publish anything at all in high volume or for wide distribution.

IT IS, IN FACT, OBVIOUS to any rational and historically-informed consideration that the Constitutionally-secured freedom of the press is, first and foremost, intended to protect the wide dissemination of political arguments, criticisms of existing institutions and exposure of government crimes. None of this has anything to do with "journalism", per se.

"Reporting the news", however defined, is of course also protected, just as is the advertising of products and sharing of material in service to casual personal interests. But the core "freedom of the press" meant to be protected by the First Amendment is the freedom of anyone who decides that it would be good or important for everyone else to know what he or she knows or thinks to set up a press (or use whatever other technology serves the purpose) and get his or her message out to one and all.

Indeed, at the time of the adoption of the First Amendment there was no "press" in any institutional sense as it is thought of today, and especially as it is meant to be thought of by those attempting to argue against Julian Assange being afforded First Amendment protection by claiming that he "really isn't a journalist". At that time, and particularly during the Revolutionary period in which the importance of press freedom was made clear, presses were set up (or hired) by anyone with something they believed important for their fellows to know or consider.

Like, for instance, that US troops engaged by high office-holders in wars of aggression in other countries facilitated by lies to the American people about "WMDs" and other things are being bent into amoral criminals by the circumstances into which they are thrust. These once-beautiful young people end up callously killing unarmed civilians (including children) and abusing prisoners, among much else, generating life-long enmity for all Americans among foreign populations and ending up so spiritually damaged in the process as to become statistics in a horrendous epidemic of suicide.

Or that US state department officials are secretly plotting the destabilization of other countries (see here, here and here, for example), which will virtually guarantee future violence and the loss of American blood and/or treasure, more pathologies of the sort described above, and the continued flow of money from other American's pockets into those of the arms industry and the enabling politicians to whom some of that largesse will be doled out as "campaign contributions", making the whole cycle perpetual.

Or that the American political process has been compromised by a conspiracy between a favored candidate and a party's national organization, at the expense of a disfavored candidate.

Or that the CIA has developed a means to mis-attribute cyberware and cyberevents (including malware and hacks) to other actors, enabling the production of false-flag events.

And so on...

JULIAN ASSANGE AND HIS REVELATIONS are exactly what the "freedom of the press" is meant to protect. Contra all the lying court stenographers and hissing-snake political hacks calling for Assange's head, "the press" which the First Amendment stands to shield has never been better personified than in Julian Assange and his work.

Everyone raising the "Assange is no journalist!" thing is an eyewash-monger; and every low-down dirty dog baying for his punishment is an enemy of the Constitution, who should be denounced as such.

THE FILING THAT PRODUCED Forrest's 2015 victory can be seen here. You'll note that just as Forrest says in discussing this victory and the dancing-robot Notice of Deficiency which preceded it by about two weeks, the refund he has gotten so far is only a partial.

Without even the pretense of a rationale the IRS is proposing to just keep the $7,000 or so withheld under Chapter 21. This despite having already admitted, by the refund of all Chapter 24 withholdings, that Forrest had no "wages" on which Chapter 21 taxes could have arisen.

This one is a victory-in-progress, though, as will be seen by looking at Jazzmin's filing.

That is, the United States has acknowledged that Jazzmin received no "wages" during 2016, by way of this complete refund of all Chapter 24 withholdings. But it is coyly holding back the Chapter 21 withholdings, even though the surtaxes to which they relate are also only measured by "wages" received.

Perhaps the Unites States is hoping that Jazzmin didn't study her CtC well, and will not understand that she is entitled to the refund of those amounts as well? If so, that hope is due to be dashed. Jazzmin knows better, and made that clear when she sent me these scans...

Illuminating Anniversaries of this week: May 3- In 1802, Washington, D.C. is incorporated.  In 1901, a fire destroys much of Jacksonville, Florida.  Unhindered by FEMA, the city is quickly rebuilt.  In 1916, captured leaders of Irish Easter Risings are executed by the British.  In 1921, West Virginia imposes the first union state sales tax.  In 1946, the International Military Tribunal for the Far East begins trials of Japanese officials for offenses such as authorizing the waterboarding and other inhumane acts to which captured enemy combatants were subjected.  Ultimately seven are executed and 16 are given life sentences.

 

Are You Having Trouble Spreading The Word??

SKEPTICISM (SOMETIMES INVOKED BY FEAR) IS TO BE EXPECTED when you're trying to explain to someone that everything they've been encouraged their whole lives to believe about something as entrenched and significant as the income tax is basically nonsense. So here's a way to help cut through the resistance:

Ask your listener how he or she would react if you were to show an announcement from the Commissioner of Internal Revenue admitting that the tax doesn't apply to the earnings of most Americans and is misapplied most of the time because people don't understand how it works? Or how about if you showed a ruling from the Supreme Court saying the same?

Now you just have to explain that you're going to show exactly those things-- but because the state really doesn't want people to know this, these things haven't been said quite as forthrightly as we would all wish. It's going to take a bit more work to take these admissions in than is sufficient for just reading a press release. But it'll be worth the effort...

Other Voices (followed by an important afterword)   Rumors of War: Washington Is Looking For A Fight by Philip Giraldi Never before in recent decades has the United States been so belligerent, and that in spite of the fact that there is no single enemy or combination of enemies that actually threaten either the geographical United States or a vital interest. It is depressing to observe how the United States of America has become the evil empire. Having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and in the Central Intelligence Agency for the second half of the Cold War, I had an insider’s viewpoint of how an essentially pragmatic national security policy was being transformed bit by bit into a bipartisan doctrine that featured as a sine qua non global dominance for Washington. Unfortunately, when the Soviet Union collapsed the opportunity to end once and for all the bipolar nuclear confrontation that threatened global annihilation was squandered as President Bill Clinton chose instead to humiliate and use NATO to contain an already demoralized and effectively leaderless Russia. American Exceptionalism became the battle cry for an increasingly clueless federal government as well as for a media-deluded public. When 9/11 arrived, the country was ready to lash out at the rest of the world. President George W. Bush growled that “There’s a new sheriff in town and you are either with us or against us.” Afghanistan followed, then Iraq, and, in a spirit of bipartisanship, the Democrats came up with Libya and the first serious engagement in Syria. In its current manifestation, one finds a United States that threatens Iran on a nearly weekly basis and tears up arms control agreements with Russia while also maintaining deployments of US forces in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and places like Mali. Scattered across the globe are 800 American military bases while Washington’s principal enemies du jour Russia and China have, respectively, only one and none. Never before in my lifetime has the United States been so belligerent, and that in spite of the fact that there is no single enemy or combination of enemies that actually threaten either the geographical United States or a vital interest. Venezuela is being threatened with invasion primarily because it is in the western hemisphere and therefore subject to Washington’s claimed proconsular authority. Last Wednesday Vice President Mike Pence told the United Nations Security Council that the White House will remove Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro from power, preferably using diplomacy and sanctions, but “all options are on the table.” Pence warned that Russia and other friends of Maduro need to leave now or face the consequences. It's a cogent warning of a very real and ongoing threat. The only problem with the article is its failure to provide a real remedy to the problem, because drawing attention alone isn't going to to anything. When was the last time Washington abandoned a corrupt and criminal practice, policy or program just because fingers were pointed and wagged? But I'll fill in that blank: Dangerous and corrupt practices, policies and programs will stop only when there's not enough money in the hands of the criminal actors to pay for them, because the rest of us cease sending them that money. Thus, as with so many other matters of the swamp, the only solution is the CtC solution, which is to say, the Founders' solution. In short, We the People (you and me) have to do as the Founders meant for us to do, and stop fueling bad behavior by people in power. We must make ourselves once again strong-- at their expense-- just as they have made themselves strong at our expense over the last 80 years! Aren't you REALLY, REALLY glad YOU'VE had the fortitude and clarity of vision to do that? Now ask yourself this: Have I really done all that I can to urge everyone I know to also stand up and act in the only way that will really bring about change in my lifetime? Illuminating Anniversaries of this week: May 4- In 1886, a day after police had fired into a crowd of striking McCormick Harvesting Machine Company workers-- killing at least two, a bomb is thrown at police trying to break up a subsequent labor rally in Haymarket Square in Chicago, Illinois.  8 are killed and 60 are wounded; the police open fire on the crowd again, resulting in an unknown number of casualties.  In 1932, Al Capone begins serving an eleven-year sentence for tax evasion.  In 1970, National Guardsmen shoot into a crowd of unarmed students protesting the Vietnam War at Kent State University, killing four and wounding nine.

About The Author

Pete Hendrickson is possibly the most effective lawyer in history, even while never having set foot in a law school, nor ever being a card-carrying member of "the bar". He is the first American in history to secure a complete refund of Social Security and Medicare ‘contributions’ withheld from his earnings (along with all other property taken for federal taxes); further, since 2003 students of his legal analyses and arguments in ‘Cracking the Code- The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America’’ (CtC), and its sequel, 'Was Grandpa Really a Moron?' have been routinely retaining and recovering billions of dollars which otherwise-- wrongly, but as a matter of course-- would have gone to federal or state government treasuries. This despite concerted efforts by government to suppress his work, and in some cases vigorously oppose the claims by his students.

Hendrickson is also a widely-read essayist on matters of politics, public policy and law; many of these works are collected in his second book, ‘Upholding the Law And Other Observations’. He is a member of Mensa; an award-winning artist; and has paid his dues as a youth soccer coach. He is a long-time political activist as well, and has served as co-chair and platform convention delegate of Michigan’s largest county Libertarian Party organization; as a consultant to the National Right to Work Foundation and Citizens for a Sound Economy; as a member of the Heartland Institute; and as a member of the International Society for Individual Liberty. He is a frequent radio-show guest on stations across the country.

Hendrickson's business career has included nearly a decade-and-a-half at the leading edge of the renewable-energy industry, both as Director of Purchasing and Materials Management and member of the R&D board at Starpak Energy Systems, the mid-west's then-largest solar heating and energy-recovery-and re-utilization company; and as founder and president of AFJ Inc., a high-efficiency lighting design, manufacture and installation firm.

Beginning in the mid-1990s and continuing for the twelve years before his present full-time focus on the restoration of the rule of law in America, Hendrickson directed purchasing activities for the $84 million-a-year multi-family-housing division of the Farmington Hills, Michigan branch of Edward Rose and Sons, with responsibility for 18,000+ apartments, direct supervision of 35 technicians and agents, and incidental authority over several hundred divisional workers. He also ran the division's 10 cable television earth-station and distribution systems in four states, and designed and administered the company's website.

On rather the other end of the spectrum, amidst these more mundane pursuits Hendrickson co-founded and was the primary creative force behind a small board- and card-game company that enjoyed a modest success for several years.

Hendrickson makes his home in southeast Michigan, with his wife and two children. He is currently working on his next book.
