EVERY NOW AND THEN I am sent a grumbly inquiry, or see one in a
forum, asking, "Why do you have to go off on politics (or foreign
policy, or critiques of the administration, or current events, or
whatever)? Why don't you just stick to the income tax?!" These
grumbles will almost inevitably come from someone who disagrees with
(or, at least, doesn't like) what I have written on the other subject.
Almost always, the complaint will be accompanied by a
warning that in critiquing particular policies or politicians I am
alienating folks who otherwise would embrace
CtC. I am
warned, in effect, that my critique of someone's favorite political
figure or policy position will keep that person from respecting the rule
of law in regard to the tax, because their enthusiasm for their guy or
gal, or their favored program, will override every other consideration.
This caution is very sound, as it happens. But the implicit
solution-- my refraining from political commentary, is not. In fact, it
is because the caution is sound that it must be
disregarded.
So, let me explain.
IN 2003, ALL NECESSARY ATTENTION TO THE INCOME TAX AS A
MATTER OF LAW was completed.
CtC alone disposes of that issue fully,
offering everything anyone could need to understand the tax and to be
equipped to look out for their own interests within the structure of the
law.
As it has become clear to me over the years where people
were having cognitive sticking points in taking in the information in
CtC, I have
also written supplementary material to address these issues. 'Was
Grandpa Really A Moron?' consists almost entirely of such
drill-downs, prompting me to present that collection as the sequel to
CtC. More of
this sort of tweak/clarification material can be found at, for instance,
the Quiz
pages, 'Notes
For Educated Filers'; 'What
Qualifies As Income-Taxable Privilege', and on
the FAQ pages.
ALL THAT HAS BEEN LEFT TO ADDRESS in terms of other
tax-related subjects are the political and the psychological dynamics
supporting the misapplication. It is those dark dynamics that have kept
CtC's dispositive revelations from restoring the limited government
liberty-and-rule-of-law republic of empowered individuals exclusively
authorized by the Declaration of Independence and the United States
Constitution.
These "ignorance tax"-supporting political and
psychological dynamics keep the righteous republic out of reach by
fomenting widespread support of, or submission to, the existence of a
Leviathan state which necessarily requires vast revenues for its
support. A people convinced of the need for a $4.3 trillion state-- or
even simply acclimated to its existence-- are not very open to the
startling notion that they're under no legal obligation to pay for that
state.
Certainly those who believe in the necessity or rightness
of Leviathan are not as open to the truth about the tax as are those who
understand that the thing is a monstrosity, which is there not because
it is needed, but as a parasite serving the needs of their competitors,
and at their expense.
Those in the first category can be told that no law compels
them to finance Leviathan, but because they WANT Leviathan-- believing
it to be the thing keeping them safe, or otherwise seeing to the quality
of their lives, and without which, they believe, things would be worse
for them-- their ability to feel outraged at having been snookered into
paying for those perceived benefits is anemic. Each individual in the
category can be counted on to happily stop their own payments, but at
one level or another want everyone else to continue paying.
Further, the belief in the rightness and necessity of the
Leviathan which imposes the tax and which is its apparent raison
d'etre makes it much more difficult to grasp the notion that the
tax it imposes and by which it is sustained is illegitimate. If, goes
the at least sub-conscious reasoning, Leviathan is right and proper (and
therefore implicitly legal), then there must be a right, proper and
legal mechanism for growing and sustaining Leviathan.
Further still along that murky path lies the typically
unexamined but insidiously-influential sense that with the rightness and
necessity of Leviathan being taken as true, anything which hinders its
freedom of action-- such as the restraints imposed by the Constitution--
must be improper or misunderstood. At the least, such restraints are
seen as threats to what are believed to be the source of the believer's
safety and well-being.
Upton Sinclair nicely captured the pith of this cognitive
challenge with his bon mot concerning the difficulties faced by
commercially-invested minds in understanding concepts threatening to
their interests:
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when
his salary depends on his not understanding it.”
Sinclair is often taken to have been cynical in this
observation; as meaning, in other words, that the minds he addresses
deliberately and knowingly "misunderstand". Perhaps that is fair.
But it is also true that complex human minds-- especially
those inundated with spin and misinformation, not much educated in
logical thought, very heavily-"educated" to believe every pronouncement
of the state, and deeply conditioned to look upon all the state's titled
operatives as honest and wise and law-respecting-- can have totally
inadvertent signal-to-noise-based difficulty taking in and accurately
sorting information which puts the lie to those naive beliefs. This is
especially so when that new information challenges the imagined virtue
of a Leviathan the hearer has believed all his life to be the source of
his safety and happiness. In such a case, a proper paraphrase of
Sinclair becomes:
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when
his sense of security and comfort with the status quo to which he has
submitted great swaths of his autonomy and which he subconsciously knows
would be very difficult and disruptive to dislodge depends on his not
understanding it.”
IN LIGHT OF THE COGNITIVE ROADBLOCKS OUTLINED ABOVE-- to
which a great number of Americans are prone and which are constantly
reinforced by the loudest megaphones in our society today-- those who
wish to see the actual laws of the income tax enforced (not to mention
the Fourth Amendment, the First Amendment, the Fifth Amendment, well,
let's just say, any and all restraints on the state) must make clear to
their fellows that Leviathan is NOT actually the source of their
security and well-being. Those who stand on the side of the law must
make clear that liberty and the rule of law are the only real source of
such goods, and Leviathan cannot co-exist with liberty and the rule of
law.
After all, people competing for spheres of authority-- over
their own persons and otherwise-- end up with very little when one of
the competitors is an 8,000 lb. gorilla whose operators, clients and
cronies benefit personally when the gorilla exercises lots of authority.
The rule of law quickly falls by the wayside when it hinders a
benefit-dispensing gorilla grown big enough to disregard it with
impunity, both by overwhelming, demonizing and disparaging dissenters,
and by exploiting judicial appointees who either share the delusion
about the necessity or virtue of Leviathan and hence sacrifice the words
of law on the altar of the gorilla's ambitions or who count themselves
among its financial beneficiaries.
This brings us round to the reason why I write on politics
and public policy.
In a nutshell, every politician who does not act to shrink
the state (which is, of course, the Leviathan of which we have been
speaking) is perforce acting to maintain the state in its 8,000 lb.
gorilla form, if not to grow it further. Every such politician is thus
an enemy of liberty and the rule of law, and a roadblock to the
realization-- both the cognitive realization and the practical
realization-- of the truth about the tax.
Every policy which preserves or enhances the size of the
state, and especially those which rely upon a drumbeat inflaming the
people with a sense of menace, security from which requires the 8,000
lb. gorilla, is not only based on lies and thus a corrupt policy
destructive of liberty and the rule of law, but is also a roadblock to
the realization of the truth about the tax.
The warfare state and its advocates are enemies of the
truth-- destructive of liberty and the rule of law. The welfare state is
also all these evil things.
Donald Trump, who has perpetuated and expanded (of late,
very dramatically) the militarist global footprint of the United States,
the fear-mongering meant to legitimize it, and the massive demand on
Americans' aggregate resources called for by both, is an enemy of the
truth and destructive of liberty and the rule of law, as are all
predecessors of his ilk.
As Thomas Paine offered for a cognitive touchstone to any
with the wit to understand the words:
"Taxes are not raised in order to support wars; rather, war
are raised in order to support taxes."
Barak Obama (who also committed all Trump's sins mentioned
above, but with a better-hidden enthusiasm), like all predecessors of
his ilk, was as much an enemy of the truth and destructive of
liberty and the rule of law with his socialist policies. All of those
are equally dependent on the existence of the 8,000 lb. gorilla, and
equally dependent on the fomenting of fears, just different fears than
the "terrorism" nonsense principally-flogged by Trump and his neo-con
cabal.
"The whole aim of practical politics [which is to say,
politics that is beneficial to its practitioners -PH] is to keep the
populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing
it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
- H. L. Mencken
ALL TOLD, THEN, IT SHOULD BE CLEAR that the chief object of
the educational mission now is to awaken the American people to the
truth about the hobgoblin-flogging policies by which Leviathan's
perpetuation is made necessary, and the devious politics and politicians
by which those hobgoblins are flogged. Hence, my persistent writing on
politics and public policy.
The solution to Leviathan is already in hand in the form of
CtC's
individual-empowering and Leviathan-shrinking revelations. What remains
to those who wish to enjoy the blessing of liberty and the rule of law
that attend that reversal of statures is the opening of their neighbor's
eyes to the fact that Leviathan is a parasite, and their enemy-- not in
any way their friend or savior.
Further, it must be made clear to as many as possible that
every politician-- even those most skilled at presenting themselves as
the opposite (or those in the hands of operators most skilled at such
frauds)-- must be judged by what actually happens on their watch, not
what they say are their goals and purposes. Judged by that mature
perspective, the vast majority will be found wanting.
AS YOU CAN TELL, I will be continuing my critiques of
Washington and the denizens that have earned it characterization as a
swamp. You will be doing so, as well, if you aspire to freedom,
prosperity and true security, such as were enjoyed by your
great-grandparents (or grandparents, if you are old enough) and those
that came before them.

"alarm-clock" challenge from various directions, will be found

Remember,
"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an
irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the
minds of men."
-Samuel Adams
REMEMBER THIS, TOO: A HUGE number of Americans are already
sick of Leviathan.
The United States (the name under which Leviathan lumbers
about, and not to be confused with the USA or America) has just proven,
by way of its refusal to leave Iraq even when ordered out by the Iraqi
government, that it remains nothing but an invader of that sovereign
nation, just as it began there on the false pretext that Iraq
represented some kind of threat to American national security. That
pretext was the basis of the 2002 AUMF under which the invasion
commenced in 2003.
But Iraq never even possessed the alleged weapons of mass
destruction by which that fraud was perpetrated, and in no way ever
offered any threat to America of any kind whatever (and, though this
notion was deceptively floated by the Bush administration as support for
the invasion at the time,
Iraq never had
anything to do with 9/11, and could not be legally invaded under the
2001 AUMF, either). Thus, the initial invasion was not authorized even
under the 2002 AUMF, and the ongoing occupation is even more illegal
now, when the entire allegedly threatening government of the country has
been replaced under United States supervision.
This latest fully-naked step into the public square by the
Emperor, and the mind-numbing bs being offered in its "defense", is
alienating even more Americans than had already been pushed over the
edge by all the prior
ham-handed violence and rationalizing lies that have preceded it over
the last 19 years.
When you start ringing your alarm-clocks, the peal of those
bells will fall on lots of receptive ears.
The Virtual Certainty Of Foreign Interference In The
2020 Elections
...due to NSA operatives giving unredacted dirt on American
politicians to another country's intelligence service.
GEORGE WASHINGTON FAMOUSLY WARNED AMERICA against harboring
affections for any foreign state-- even going so far as to disparage
actual alliances if for more than the brief duration of hot conflict.
Steeped in the wisdom of long experience, and with no personal agenda to
promote, Washington used his last address to the American people at the
end of his presidency to advise his heirs as to a prudent, productive,
and liberty-protective foreign policy.
Washington warned against both affections for other
nations and animosity towards other nations (the entire text of
his warning can be seen
here). For
purposes of this article I am going to editorially consolidate and focus
solely on the "affection" part:
"Nothing is more essential than that
passionate attachments for particular Nations should be excluded; and that, in
place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be
cultivated. The Nation, which indulges towards another an habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave. It is a
slave to its affection, which is sufficient to lead it astray from
its duty and its interest.
"A passionate attachment of one Nation
for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite
Nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest,
in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one
the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation
in the quarrels and wars of the latter, without adequate inducement
or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite
Nation of privileges denied to others, which is apt doubly to injure
the Nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with
what ought to have been retained; and by exciting jealousy,
ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom
equal privileges are withheld. And it gives to ambitious, corrupted,
or deluded citizens, (who devote themselves to the favorite nation,)
facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country,
without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the
appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable
deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good,
the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or
infatuation."
I need hardly spend the pixels to name Israel as the nation on
behalf of which America's political class has subjected the rest of
us to the "variety of evils" against which George Washington warns
us.
IT IS TRUE THAT BRITAIN shares with us most closely our
cultural background, and is viewed with affection by many Americans for
that reason. But in practical terms Britain is held in contempt and
treated as a U.S. poodle. The same is true of the other Anglophone
nations.
Similarly, United States policy toward Saudi Arabia and
Egypt can be criticized as overly forgiving. George W. Bush was famously
photographed walking hand in hand with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah in
2005. Donald Trump has been known to go dancing with Abdullah's
brethren, and heaps praise upon Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who seized power in
Egypt in a coup overthrowing the popularly-elected government of Mohamed
Morsi and featuring the murder of thousands of protestors.
But while some with interests in the benefitting industries
self-servingly appreciate Saudi Arabia's arms purchases, and both Saudi
Arabia and Egypt are viewed with some favor due to their (often)
sotto voce cooperation with (or perhaps, subordination to) Israel,
to the leadership of neither are
invitations to address Congress extended.
Likewise, to neither Saudi Arabia, nor Egypt-- nor Britain,
for that matter-- do most members of Congress make pilgrimages upon
taking office,
as they do to Israel. On behalf of none of these others are there
measures introduced in Congress, with the support of the White
House, to punish criticism of their policies and practices. Only Israel
is treated to these extraordinary forelock tugs.
INDEED, THE REMARKABLE SLAVISHNESS OF THE US POLITICAL
CLASS TOWARD ISRAEL is so lick-spittle and abject that Nancy Pelosi--
Speaker of the US House of Representatives--
has actually said, on camera:
“[I]f this Capitol crumbled to the ground, the one thing
that would remain is our commitment to our aid…and I don’t even call it
aid…our cooperation with Israel. That’s fundamental to who we are.”
Pelosi is far from alone-- indeed, it is hard to name any
national politician of any stature who hasn't said the same or its
equivalent, or wouldn't, do so, if put to the question.
For decades, United States foreign policy has been a tool
of Israeli interests generally, and the American people have been
compelled to sacrifice their own well-being for the well-being of
Israelis to the tune of $billions annually.
AS FAR BACK AS 1963, Israel was suspected of secretly
developing nuclear weapons, and John Kennedy was demanding access to
Israel's Dimona reactor site due to suspicions that it was a secret
nuclear-weapons facility, despite Israel denials and the prior
presentation of a Potemkin version of the facility to an American
inspection team. See
here and
here.
Not long after these increasingly impatient demands began
to escalate Kennedy was conveniently disappeared into the ground. Lyndon
Johnson, a fawning, religiously-deluded Israeli sycophant, was elevated
to the presidency in Kennedy's place, and the inspection and oversight
demands ceased. (In 1986, Israeli nuclear technician
Mordecai Vanunu
revealed extensive details of his country's nuclear programs and
arsenal, including the true history of the Dimona facility. In 2004,
Vanunu declared that JFK's assassination was Israel's reaction to
Kennedy's pressure to inspect the facility.)
OVER THE LAST 19 YEARS, the betrayal of America in service
to Israel by those at the apex of America's political class has dramatically escalated. The
costs have
extended to tens of thousands of American lives lost and ruined, and to
the heavy compromise of the
blessings of liberty and rule of law previously-enjoyed by all of us.
Over that last near-two-decades, since being equipped with
the "new Pearl Harbor" pretext of 9/11, that United States political
elite has pursued a policy of destabilizing and in some cases outright
destroying Israeli neighbors such as Iraq and Syria whose unmolested
presence hindered its expansionist ambitions and resource acquisition.
Likewise, the US has helped horrendous dictatorships in Egypt and Saudi
Arabia suppress popular democratic impulses which might yield
governments less willing to subordinate themselves to Israel than those
which they would replace.
Parallel to the severe oppression of the people of Saudi
Arabia and Egypt and the outright slaughter and displacement of Iraqis
and Syrians (as well as the flattening of infrastructure and
irreplaceable antiquities) has been the even more savage assault on the
people of Iran in an effort to destroy yet another society which is no
natural threat whatever to America but which has been thwarting
Israeli
ambitions to seize water resources in Southern Lebanon (by its support of Lebanese defenses against those
ambitions).
These acute losses have been accompanied by the deep
rooting of what will be generations-enduring implacable hatred of
America in the hearts and minds of millions whose lives
have been ruined by United States actions on behalf of Israeli
interests.
NONE OF THE FORGOING has ever really had anything to do
with 9/11, of course. Even if it is believed that Osama bin Laden was
behind those events, he was driven from Afghanistan almost immediately
in 2001. Iraq was eventually admitted
even by George Bush to have had
nothing to do with 9/11.
Nor was Syria or Iran ever linked to the events of that
day. Indeed, if any such linkage could be proposed, it would be to the
Saudis, of which bin Laden was one, as were the majority of the
purported hijackers.
Couple all of that with the transparent absurdity and the
wealth of contradictory evidence making clear that the "official story"
of 9/11 being flogged as the justification for all the subsequent bad
behavior by the United States is
nonsense on stilts, and it becomes
plain that everyone in any important position in the political class has
always known full well that 9/11 offers no legitimate justification for
any of the purported responses to the event recited above.
9/11 was just a pretext for what has actually been US
military (and economic) aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria,
Libya (by virtue of the destabilization of which those set up to attack
Syria were equipped with arms) and Iran. All these aggressions have
benefitted Israel, and all were perpetrated at enormous American expense
of blood and treasure.
All of these aggressions amounted to a dramatic escalation
of recklessness on the part of the political class in its subjugation to
the indefensibly barbaric little apartheid theocracy on the
Mediterranean.
It turns out that
by at least 2009, Israel had co-opted the US National Security Agency
into
handing over all data collected by the spy agency from 24/7 surveillance
of every American-- in raw (that is, unredacted) form. A risible
fig-leaf in the form of an Israeli promise to ignore and destroy
material concerning American government officials will ease the concerns
of only the extraordinarily gullible over what is obviously the
acquisition by a foreign interest of the means to directly control
American politicians, media moguls and other wielders of power and
influence.
So bold a thing as the creation of a written
memorialization of this criminal arrangement at that point suggests to
me that the same arrangement (or a very similar one) had been in place
for quite some time before 2009, as well, but simply on a more clandestine basis. Either
way, it is undeniable that for a long time now-- and during at least
many of the bizarre, indefensible betrayals of American interests-- over
the last 20 years, Israel has had access to the short hairs of America's
political class and its presstitutes in the MSM (h/t to PCR for that
bon mot).
What do you imagine is the likelihood that this
treasure-trove of surveillance data has been used by Israel to seize
control over (or at the very least, heavily influence) United States foreign and domestic policy? I know I'm a cynic
about this sort of thing, but, judging from the evidence in the record, I'd say: "100%".
Indeed, I'd say that if Israel DIDN'T use this handover for
exactly this purpose, it would be crazy. That doesn't mean I'm approving
of it, of course. I think that the NSA officials who arranged this
handover should be prosecuted for treason, and every officeholder of any
other sort found to have been controlled by Israel should be, too.
I doubt that'll happen unless the mainstream media takes up
this story and makes something of it-- but of course, Israel will have
dirt on those folks, too, right?
ANYWAY, LET'S GET TO THE POINT: In light of the foregoing,
only the most pedestrian of reasoning is needed to conclude beyond
rational doubt that there WILL be foreign interference in the next
election-- both before the event and afterwards. The nominating process
must be suspect; the flow of significant donor support must be suspect;
the selections of appointees and the actual policies to be pursued by
winners of elections (as opposed to the rhetoric
upon which those winners campaigned) must be suspect.
In the end, then, thanks to the corrupt and treasonous
behavior Israel managed to secure from some officials (perhaps through
having gotten some dirt by other means to begin with?) the rest of our
officials must be presumed compromised.
In practical terms, even if you and I really do control who
nominally ends up in office by way of our votes, we will NOT control who
wields power afterwards, or how that power is wielded.
Talk amongst yourselves...
"The Nation, which indulges towards another an habitual
fondness, is in some degree a slave... [Such attachment] gives to
ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens, (who devote themselves to the
favorite nation,) facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their
own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding,
with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable
deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the
base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation.""

P.S. Considering the revelations in the article above,
don't you think it would be a good idea to defund the state whose reins
are really held by a foreign power which does NOT act in the interests
of America or Americans, or at least to stop sending YOUR money to where
it will actually only fuel a competing interest?
And don't you think other Americans might feel the same
way? Maybe you should share this information and these thoughts, and

Regarding Trolleries
(Deceitful efforts to discourage Americans from
learning the truth about the "income tax")
FOR ALL THE YEARS SINCE 2003 when
CtC was first published, the government has engaged in a
concerted effort to frighten people away from its truths. This
effort involves official government websites and press releases
touting an occasional court ruling that appears to be at odds
with some
CtC-revelation (but without details sufficient to expose the
real substance of the ruling)--
and sometimes even more mendacious behavior.
Are the presentations and
resources offered on this site and in my other work of any value to you?
Tim Kendrick has posted
a video

it to begin with; I don't do what I do intending for anyone to

But of course, no one IS obligated. I will continue

the cost of a cheap paperback.
Thus, even though I post it here below, Tim's very
thoughtful personal resolution and encouragement to others is
just an invitation for consideration by those who may not be

No one is to feel any pressure from it; if it moves anyone to

Are You Having Trouble Spreading The
Word??
SKEPTICISM (SOMETIMES INVOKED BY FEAR) IS TO BE
EXPECTED when you're trying to explain to someone that
everything they've been encouraged their whole lives to
believe about something as entrenched and significant as the
income tax is basically nonsense. So here's a way to help
cut through the resistance:
Ask your listener how he or she would react if
you were to show an announcement from the Commissioner of
Internal Revenue admitting that the tax doesn't apply to the
earnings of most Americans and is misapplied most of the
time because people don't understand how it works? Or how
about if you showed a ruling from the Supreme Court saying
the same?
Now you just have to explain that
you're going to show exactly those things-- but because
the state really doesn't want people to know this, these
things haven't been said quite as forthrightly as we would
all wish. It's going to take a bit more work to take these
admissions in than is sufficient for just reading a press
release. But it'll be worth the effort...
IF YOU'RE NOT SPREADING THIS LINK with every bit of
energy you can, to school libraries, homeschool
families and community groups, your neighbors, your
family members, your pastors and
co-congregationalists, journalists, lawyers, CPAs,
members of congress, tax-agency workers, Wikipedia,
Anonymous, WikiLeaks, the Tax Foundation, everyone
in the "tax honesty" movement, the 9/11 truth
movement, other activist movements and everyone
else,
you have only yourself to blame for your
troubles with the tax, and a whole lot else of which
you might complain. It's on you.
WRITE A NICE, FRIENDLY AND BRIEF introductory note
explaining what will be seen at the link-- cryptic
is bad; excited is good-- and then send this WMI

Remember: Real Americans don't accommodate fog, lies and a sliding scale of

"In a time of
universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary
act."
In 1965, the Lyndon B. Johnson administration backed a
military coup by a right-wing Indonesian general named Suharto — who like many
Javanese used only his given name — that overthrew Sukarno, hero of his
country’s freedom struggle against Dutch colonialism and its first
post-independence president. Sukarno, an ardent anti-imperialist, had made the
fatal errors of protecting Indonesian communists and cozying up to the Soviet
Union and China, and was marked for elimination. In service of this, the US
Embassy in Jakarta gave Suharto’s
forces “shooting lists” of known and suspected communists; US officials later
admitted checking off names of victims who had been killed or captured.
“It was a really big help to the army,” explained
former diplomat Robert Martens. “They probably killed a lot of people, and I
probably have a lot of blood on my hands, but that’s not all bad.” Suharto
consolidated his power and, with US support, ruled Indonesia by 1967. More than
half a million Indonesians died in what the New York Times called “one
of the most savage mass slayings of modern political history.
Of Hands and Blood
Fast-forward 55 years to the present, when amid
the crescendoing drumbeat of war, this time against Iran, one phrase
seems to dominate the rhetoric of warmongering politicians and pundits
alike: Qasem Soleimani, the top Iranian general assassinated along with
numerous associates in a US drone strike in Baghdad on Thursday, “has
the blood of Americans on his hands,” we’re told. And yes, it’s true
that hundreds of US troops in Iraq were killed or wounded by Iran-backed
fighters. It’s also true that those troops were foreign invaders engaged
in an illegal war of regime change, occupation and exploitation, and
that Soleimani is seen by many as a hero who courageously — and
successfully — defended his Shia brethren in Iraq and elsewhere from
imperialist domination.
We’re not here today to debate whether
Soleimani was a hero or a villain, for it is possible to be both, to
different people. Nor are we here to remind that Iran is a country
— which despite being surrounded by hostile US and allied forces, and
despite a long
history of sometimes extreme US aggression and meddling — that
hasn’t started a foreign war since the early 1700s. Or that the
immediate genesis of the current crisis is Trump’s unilateral withdrawal
from the nuclear deal with which everyone agrees Iran was compliant, a
move which many warned could
precipitate fallout of a sort very much like what’s happening now. Or,
for that matter, how President Donald Trump’s act of war will further
inflame the world’s most combustible region.
No, we’re here today to discuss bloody hands.
America’s bloody hands, to be precise. Logic would dictate that the US
presumption that having American blood on one’s hands marks one for what
Trump called “termination”
would apply equally to those touched by America’s bloody hands, and the
US has exponentially more blood on its hands than Iran. In the
post-World War II era, it has invaded or attacked, in more or less
chronological order, North Korea, Puerto Rico, Lebanon, Cuba, North
Vietnam, Laos, the Dominican Republic, Cambodia, Libya, Grenada,
Nicaragua, Panama, Iraq, Bosnia, Somalia, Haiti, Afghanistan, Sudan,
Serbia, Yemen, Pakistan and Syria. That’s 22 countries, some of them
subjected to two or more US attacks or invasions.
WILKINS FINISHES HIS COMMENTARY with the chilling words, "America's
hands are drenched in blood," which he
has just thoroughly proven. A powerful and profoundly disturbing
statement.
Happily, I'm able to take one issue with Wilkins' words: MY hands are not drenched in that blood.
I didn't
mindlessly or deliberately pay for the bullets and bombs deployed against all
the victims of the insane and monstrous violence Wilkins recounts-- at least,
not since learning the empowering truth about the income tax.
And to the extent that deliberate intent is a factor
in moral agency, it is not quite right to ascribe guilt for that blood
with such a broad brush as the expression, "America". Put more
accurately, the "United States"-- that is, the federal Leviathan
apparatus in Washington-- committed all that bloodshed. Most Americans
just paid for it, fooled into thinking that they were somehow required to do so.
THE UNITED STATES DOMESTIC PROPAGANDA MACHINE is the best
the world has ever known. One focus of its attention over the last 20
years, especially, has been implanting the ridiculous notion that the
United States is a divinely anointed self-serving killer-- that when
Washington shovels money to arms merchants and uses the purchased goods
to make widows and orphans on behalf of its clients and cronies, it does
so with the approval of Heaven.
Another program of that domestic propaganda apparatus
attempts to obscure the personal moral agency in all that selfish
killing from individual Americans. One key tool in that batch of eyewash
is promoting the fiction that Americans have no choice but to finance
all the death.
A subtextual element of that propaganda is the suggestion
that even though YOU don't want to finance all the death, most of your
neighbors do... even though the presidential candidates whom the
American people have chosen for the job over that whole 20 years have
consistently been the ones who promised to stop the killing. Amazing how
successful propaganda can be
when the major media voices are part of its choir.
The truth is, Americans DO have a choice. They've just been
kept from understanding that over the last 80 years.
YOU understand that, though. Help your ill-used neighbors
learn the truth.
They'll resist and resist and resist, as the propaganda wrapped around
their brains struggles to maintain its grip. But the truth will win in
the end, if you are persistent.
EVEN AS ARDENT A STATIST as Abraham
Lincoln, in announcing his willingness to burn the Southern states to the ground in order to
keep them paying the tariff for the benefit of Northern interests in
his first inaugural address on March 4, 1861, paid at least lip
service to the Founders design of leaving control over the fuel
available to feed the fires Washington wants to light in the hands
of the individual citizenry when he said, "Doing this I deem to
be only a simple duty on my part; and I shall perform it, unless my
rightful masters, the American people, shall withhold the requisite
means..."

Do you
know someone truly steeped in the Kool-Aid?
I mean
someone who finds it easier to believe that the far-better-educated,
far-more-suspicious-of-government Americans of a hundred years ago were
complete morons who granted authority to the state to take whatever it
wished from themselves and their posterity than to imagine that they
themselves simply misunderstand the true nature of the income tax? Even
while knowing that their beliefs about the tax are derived entirely from
the representations of those who profit from those beliefs (like tax
bureaucrats and "tax professionals")?
Do you
know someone like that? Shake them awake with the latest (fifteenth)
edition of
CtC!
If
CtC were actually
right, it would mean the government's been concealing and
denying and suppressing the truth for years
on end, and everybody knows THAT would never happen...
(Edward Snowden, come home! It was all just a bad dream; there really is
No Such Agency!)
Btw, a copy of
CtC from anywhere except the link above may not

e-book, Kindle or .pdf versions of
CtC.
Don't get taken in by efforts to sell you-- or even give you for

Hendrickson is also a widely-read essayist on
matters of politics, public policy and law; many of these works

as a member of the International Society for Individual
Liberty. He is a frequent radio-show guest on stations across
the country.
Hendrickson's business career has included nearly a
decade-and-a-half at the leading edge of the renewable-energy
industry, both as Director of Purchasing and Materials
Management and member of the R&D board at Starpak Energy
Systems, the mid-west's then-largest solar heating and
energy-recovery-and re-utilization company; and as founder and
president of AFJ Inc., a high-efficiency lighting design,
manufacture and installation firm.
Beginning in the mid-1990s and continuing for the
twelve years before his present full-time focus on the
restoration of the rule of law in America, Hendrickson directed
purchasing activities for the $84 million-a-year
multi-family-housing division of the Farmington Hills, Michigan
branch of Edward Rose and Sons, with responsibility for 18,000+
apartments, direct supervision of 35 technicians and agents, and
incidental authority over several hundred divisional workers.
He also ran the division's 10 cable television earth-station and
distribution systems in four states, and designed and
administered the company's website.
On rather the other end of the spectrum, amidst
these more mundane pursuits Hendrickson co-founded and was the
primary creative force behind a small
board- and
card-game company that enjoyed a modest success for several
years.
Hendrickson makes his home in southeast Michigan,
with his wife and two children. He is currently working on his
next book.
