May 1- In 1328, England recognizes
Scotland as an independent state after 32 years of attempted conquest. In 1931,
the Empire State Building in New York City is dedicated. In 1950, Guam is
organized as a "State
of the United States". In 1960, the U2 spyplane piloted by Francis Gary
Powers is shot down over the Soviet Union. In 1971, the National Railroad
Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) is formed. In 2003, George W. Bush declares:
"Mission accomplished!" in Iraq. In 2006, the government of Puerto Rico closes
its Department of Education and 42 other government agencies in responsible
recognition of its fiscal situation. In 2011, Barack Obama announces the
assassination of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan by a crack team of Navy
Seals. The truth of this assertion is unknown. According to the official
story, although arguably the most potentially-useful subject of interrogation in
US history (at least in the context of the alleged "terrorist war" paradigm
within which all of this happened), and although described as unarmed and
easily-taken, bin Laden was instead summarily shot in the head. No body was
ever seen; instead it is claimed that the body was taken away by the SEAL team
and then simply dumped at sea. Considerable evidence exists indicating that bin
Laden had actually died years earlier, in December of 2001; further, the series
of videos purportedly of bin Laden making various pronouncements useful to the
US propaganda campaign supporting its foreign and domestic policies in the
intervening years were obvious fakes.

BTW, join me on The Shields Report
Saturday, May 6 at 5PM EDT!!
...because these folks deserve it, and
also because it creates a nice
framework in which to introduce a new and especially
good testimonial video
;>).
LAST EDITION WE ENJOYED EARLY FILER NICK MEMMELAAR'S
two victories for 2022, state and federal, each
received and shared just before "tax day". In the
time since that posting, several more early filers
have stepped up to take the bushel off their candles
and share.
Here then, are a couple of those
additional recent victories for everyone to enjoy.
We'll start with Lori Baker & Michael Cozad, who
have secured a complete refund of everything paid-in
as estimated tax during 2022:
Here
is the filing by which this victory in upholding
the rule of law was accomplished, and here is an
interesting additional item related to this victory,
by which Lori challenged the company for which she
worked as to the validity of characterizing her
earnings as tax-relevant "income":
I'd say the reply is a bit ambiguous
(and reflective of the company's failure to
understand the question), but that sword cuts both
ways...
Well done, Lori & Michael!
***
JOE & GLORIA SHILLING have also just
secured a nice victory from the feds-- this one for
2021, with interest:
Here is the filing involved, and here are some
explicit admissions relating to this victory which
appeared on the refund notice issued due to the feds
having added an estimated tax payment Joe & Gloria
had forgotten to include in their claim:
Well done, Joe & Gloria!
(Btw, I have to share the thought-provoking tag line
Joe includes in all his emails, because I think it's
that great: "War is when your government tells you
who the enemy is. Revolution is when you figure it
out for yourself.")
***
JASON SOBIESIAK has also just
shared a recent victory-- this one with the feds for
2019 on an original return filed in January, 2023:
Here is the filing Jason submitted, and as will
be noted, Jason neglected to include the
withholdings done under Chapter 21 provisions (the
"FICA" withholdings) in the amount of federal tax
listed as withheld on his 1040 and in the amount
claimed for refund. This is an unfortunate mistake
(and shown to be a mistake by Jason's statement
attached to his return) which is reflected in the
incomplete "overpayment" amount acknowledged on the
notice above. Jason is not the only one to have ever
made it.
Each person must complete forms and
statements as he or she best understands the law.
All I can do is urge close attention to every detail
offered in
CtC. They all matter.
In a similar vein, I urge everyone to
pay proper attention to all the supplemental
information offered from the
LHC
site map. It is a pity when folks unnecessarily
create a need for amending a filing, or fail to
recover all the property that belongs to them.
That said, Jason still merits a Well
Done! He has at least secured a good chunk of his
property, and gotten a clean admission that all the
rest is owed to him (see the discussion of
Christopher Brenner's recent victory-in-progress in
this
post) even if he has not formally reclaimed it
yet.
***
DAN ARTHUR SHARES his latest victory--
a complete and straightforward refund of everything
withheld from him during 2022 as federal "income"
tax:
Here
is the crystal-clear filing that yielded this
victory. I have to say that,
as noted here, I am not an advocate of "cover
letters" accompanying returns, for a variety of
reasons. But, if someone means to do one and do it
well, it would look a lot like Dan's.
Well done, Dan!
***
NOW, LET'S WRAP UP with Lori Baker's excellent video
describing her path in becoming aware of the truth
about the tax and then-- like any true American would
do-- acting in accordance with that new and
liberating knowledge:
Great job, Lori!
ALL-IN-ALL, HATS OFF TO Lori & Michael,
Joe & Gloria, Jason, and Dan. Their great victories
join those of the tens of thousands of other
awakened and activated Americans represented
here, and constitute more critical steps toward
the restoration of
the Founders republic and the true rule of law.
Their great activism and outreach drive everything
forward.
Remember, it's all about upholding the
law, and that is YOUR responsibility. Awakening
others to this high and honorable duty is the best
way to make it happen.

...that is, continuing to sit-on-the-front-porch-and-watch-the-world-go-by
thoughts, this time on the Tucker Carlson deplatforming, the
Matt Walsh "phone hack" (including some discussion
of DeSantis v. Trump for 2024), and the
indefensible-- indeed, barbaric-- "treatment" of
Gender Confusion Disorder by "affirmations".
RUPERT MURDOCH'S ATTEMPT TO SUPPRESS
TUCKER CARLSON-- especially at this juncture-- is a
serious assault on the teetering remnants of
American political integrity. It is my heart-felt
hope that Carlson-- the most important and
virtuously-effective thinker, speaker and curator in
mainstream American media today-- very quickly finds
a way to re-platform himself.
It is also my hope that Fox News (and
Murdoch's other ventures) suffer prolonged profound
losses as a result of Murdoch's obnoxious move, in
order to deter similar bad behavior by other actors.
I never watched anything on Fox News
ever until in late 2020 I stumbled across an excerpt
of a Carlson episode (probably one forwarded around
by someone in the
CtC community). I checked out the full episode
and from that day forward watched every Carlson
show, along with an occasional sampling of some
other Fox content.
But I'm done with that channel entirely
now, and I hope you take the same position. Unlike
the many occasions in which the expression is
misapplied, Carlson actually speaks truth to power
and loudly reports the Emperor's nakedness. That Fox
News wanted to excise that virtue from its offerings
taints all that remain with the mark of
presstitution, and I haven't got time for any such
crap.
SPEAKING OF RECENT SUPPRESSION EFFORTS,
the hack and abusive exploitation of Matt Walsh's
phone contents, and the demonetization of his
YouTube channel, both two weeks ago-- along the
gleeful responses to it by many statists and
leftists (but I repeat myself)-- is interestingly
coincidental with the Carlson assault. Both men
recognize the virtues of Ron DeSantis-- Walsh most
vocally, so far-- and as I wrote in
my
'Other Voices' commentary last edition, DeSantis
is the guy the Democrats don't want to face in the
2024 presidential race.
It because DeSantis is the real threat
that the Democrat machine is doing everything
possible to ensure a mindless frenzy on behalf of
Donald Trump in his unfortunately large
cult-of-personality base going into the Republican
nominating convention by setting up a series of
carefully-timed provocations related to the New York
charges by Alvin Bragg and other such issues. All of
that is meant to make Trump a martyr around whom
that base will mindlessly rally, with all
reflections on things like Trump's appointments of
Christopher Wray, Mark Milley, Mike Pompeo, Gina
Haspel, John Bolton, William Barr and so forth, and
his elevation of Anthony Fauci and Rochelle Wolensky
to the national stage along with his disastrous and
characteristically thoughtless embrace of their
"lockdown" policies and the development of the mRNA
"vaccines" being entirely driven from its collective
mind.
Similarly overlooked will be Trump's
indictment of Julian Assange, his arming of the
neo-Nazi coup-installed government of Ukraine, his
murder of Iranian leader Qasem Soleimani on his way
to make peace with Saudi Arabia (a murder which
opened the door for China to end up with credit for
brokering that peace agreement, btw), his
perpetuation of US troops in Syria (and buy-in to
the transparently ridiculous accusations of Bashar
al Assad's use of chemical weapons against his own
people), and the
actually-anemic performance of the American economy
during Trump's first term, his endless
bloviations to the contrary notwithstanding.
Don't get me wrong. Trump should have
had a second term running right now. Not because of
his virtues, but for the same reason he had his
first-- the Democrat offering was nauseating, and
Trump campaigned shrewdly, voicing adherence to many
legitimate widely-held views roundly viewed with
contempt by both the Democrat and Republican elite.
This combination prevailed for Trump in 2016 and
he'd be in office now if not for
massive Democrat election-rigging in 2020.
But Trump's heart wasn't behind those
declarations, or he didn't understand or care to
learn their nuances (a failing illustrated by his
delegation of way too many decisions to others, most
notably farming out appointment picks and other
policy issues to his son-in-law, Jared Kushner).
There is a competent politician there in some
respects, but not much statesmanship.
I had a thought in this latter regard
back in January when the real Republican
conservative cadre in the House was struggling to
make its deal with then wanna-be Speaker Kevin
McCarthy and some were calling for Trump to be
called upon to take charge of the negotiation: Trump
IS a good negotiator, but unfortunately, in the
realm of public policy, politics and principles, has
no real grasp of WHAT to negotiate FOR, or why.
ANYWAY, ALL OF THAT IS IMPORTANT, and I
urge everyone to get behind Ron DeSantis in a big
way. But the real reason I started this comment
about the Matt Walsh attack was to offer a
cautionary observation: the only means I can think
of by which the contents of Walsh's phone can have
been accessed was his foolish decision to have those
contents "in the cloud" (something often done
carelessly when having a phone dealer transfer data
from an old phone to a new one).
Gaining possession of a duplicate sim
card does not give the possessor access to content
that is physically only kept on the phone itself.
Don't make the same mistake, or others of the same
kind.
Here is a maxim for our times: The
prospect of something in or relating to the digital
world being easier or more convenient should by
default be viewed as involving a security risk (or a
dire peril to fundamental liberty itself, such as
the elimination of cash, or worse, the adoption of
'Central Bank Digital Currency', both of which
pernicious notions will be promoted on the basis of
their convenience). Any "ease" that involves
elements in the hands of others should be read as
"danger".
***
FINALLY, I HAVE A QUESTION for all the
"trans" apologists-- and fence-sitters, too-- who
tolerate or even advance the argument that "trans
affirmation"-- surgical or merely psychological-- is
a fit and proper treatment for someone who has
concluded that he or she belongs in a different body
and is in distress for not being so. Here's my
challenge:
If you became aware that someone had
come to believe themselves able to fly like Superman
(as many four-year olds have declared of themselves)
and is in distress for not being in the air where
they belong, would you likewise view it fit and
proper to "affirm" that belief by leading that
person to the roof and calling them Superman (or
Supergirl), and maybe even selling them some "super
boot" with the claim that they will help the person
get off the ground?
If that ISN'T what you would view as
fit or proper treatment of the "Super" delusion,
not, why not? And what's the difference between the
"trans" delusion and the "super" delusion that would
make affirmation of the "trans" delusion a proper
"treatment" when it obviously isn't for the "super"
delusion, and never has been deemed a proper
treatment for any other mental illness-- whether of
the "dysphoric"* variety or otherwise-- throughout
all of human history?
LET'S CONSIDER ANOTHER example, one
perhaps more closely paralleling Gender Confusion
Disorder (GCD). Like "gender dysphoria", anorexia is
a dysphoric mental illness, in which the victim is
in distress over his or her body (believing
themselves overweight, when actually not, and
denying themselves food in an effort to slim down).
Would "trans" affirmers likewise affirm the
anorexic's belief that he or she is overweight, and
should eat less (or maybe have tissue carved off
surgically) in order to better conform their body to
what they believe it should be?
If not, why not? What WOULD you do to
treat the anorexic (or the Super syndrome)? Why
DON'T you advocate the same sort of treatment for
the GCD sufferer, rather than the destructive and
obviously wrong "affirmation" insanity?
What the hell is wrong with
"affirmation" advocates and apologists?!
*Dysphoria is a state of generalized
unhappiness, restlessness, dissatisfaction, or
frustration. You're not wrong to recognize this
definition as essentially a description of a typical
adolescent's state of mind...

Not Letting This "Crisis" Go To Waste...
...an important action item opportunity.
FRIENDS, THE SPORADIC BITS OF EASING of the despotic measures to
which most of the country has been subjected under
the fraudulent mantle of
COVID-19 mitigation should not be
allowed to bleed off the head of steam you probably had been developing.
The offenses happened, and they're far from over. Stay hot.
And while you are all warmed up, and while others, if
they're smart, are just as hot, I'd like you to send an email (and
Facebook post, or whatever) with the following content to everyone you
can (with a request that they pass it along, in turn):
[Name], since March of 2020 you've
watched as over-fed state power has been used to literally destroy
classical Western civilization and impose a new despotic paradigm. No
dissent or debate permitted-- no permission or agreement sought.
YOU KNOW where this will end up if the arrogant
state power being used to make this happen isn't radically diminished in
size, influence, resources and popular support, and exposed as an
opportunistic exploiter of legal ignorance (an ignorance which it has
been nurturing in the average mind for decades).
Those things having not yet happened, you
should be quaking in your boots-- and you probably are.
Isn't it time-- and past time-- for you to
begin helping to make those desperately-needed defensive changes take
place? There is only one way these things can happen short of a
who-knows-what we'll-end-up-with explosion of violence. I'm going to
show it to you.
When you're done with that reading, you'll know
what to do next.
BTW, REMEMBER, ALSO, THAT EVERY AMERICAN has lately been given a stark lesson in the fact
that government officials at all levels will lie to you and violate the
law without batting an eye. They will do so any time it serves their agenda, and
you don't call them out for it.
If you know anyone who has been persisting in denial on the
truth about the income tax, you know such nonsense is usually be
grounded in some version or another of, "That can't be true..." or "They
would never do something like that...". Now's the time to put a pin in
that delusional bubble.
As the C19 hoax has starkly shown, "that" certainly CAN be true, and they
certainly WOULD do something
like that.
Use this evidence in all your
outreach efforts.
"It is not the function of our Government to keep the
citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to
keep the Government from falling into error."

(Deceitful efforts to discourage Americans from
learning the truth about the "income tax")
FOR ALL THE YEARS SINCE 2003 when
CtC was first published, the government has engaged in a
concerted effort to frighten people away from its truths. This
effort involves official government websites and press releases
touting an occasional court ruling that appears to be at odds
with some
CtC-revelation (but without details sufficient to expose the
real substance of the ruling)--
and sometimes even more mendacious behavior.
Are the presentations and
resources offered on this site and in my other work of any value to you?
Tim Kendrick has posted
a video
on YouTube regarding donations. I didn't know what to do about
it to begin with; I don't do what I do intending for anyone to
feel obligated in any way.
But of course, no one IS obligated. I will continue
to make my work freely-available here, and in my books for only
the cost of a cheap paperback.
Thus, even though I post it here below, Tim's very
thoughtful personal resolution and encouragement to others is
just an invitation for consideration by those who may not be
conscious of the fact that I can't do what I do without support.
No one is to feel any pressure from it; if it moves anyone to
act let it be solely because it seems right.
All-in-all, just be the sort of person for others
that you would go to yourself for trustworthy leadership.
Leadership is a challenge. But it's not
complicated, and you can do it.

Are You Having Trouble Spreading The
Word?
SKEPTICISM (SOMETIMES INVOKED BY FEAR) IS TO BE
EXPECTED when you're trying to explain to someone that
everything they've been encouraged their whole lives to
believe about something as entrenched and significant as the
income tax is basically nonsense. So here's a way to help
cut through the resistance:
Ask your listener how he or she would react if
you were to show an announcement from the Commissioner of
Internal Revenue admitting that the tax doesn't apply to the
earnings of most Americans and is misapplied most of the
time because people don't understand how it works? Or how
about if you showed a ruling from the Supreme Court saying
the same?
Now you just have to explain that
you're going to show exactly those things-- but because
the state really doesn't want people to know this, these
things haven't been said quite as forthrightly as we would
all wish. It's going to take a bit more work to take these
admissions in than is sufficient for just reading a press
release. But it'll be worth the effort...
IF YOU'RE NOT SPREADING THIS LINK with every bit of
energy you can, to school libraries, homeschool
families and community groups, your neighbors, your
family members, your pastors and
co-congregationalists, journalists, lawyers, CPAs,
members of congress, tax-agency workers, Wikipedia,
Anonymous, WikiLeaks, the Tax Foundation, everyone
in the "tax honesty" movement, the 9/11 truth
movement, other activist movements and everyone
else,
you have only yourself to blame for your

adherence to the rule of law. Real American men and women stand up for the
truth and the law, come what may, knowing that it is only by setting the bar
at the top and enforcing it, come what may, that liberties are secured.

"In a time of
universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary
act."
My late father was what you might call a secretly
brilliant country boy.
“Rick” was a big fat man
with a salt-and-pepper beard and a baritone voice.
He loved to fiddle with cars, so he wore
grime-stained clothes. When he got angry, all manner
of colorful things flew out of his mouth. There was
no mistaking him for a doctor, lawyer, or college
professor.
Still, his brain doubled as
an encyclopedia of useless facts, which means all
the people he loved eventually lost to him at
Trivial Pursuit. He could be silly, crude, and
frequently a glutton, or warm, witty, and
occasionally wise.
But on first impressions, people saw him as the
punchline of a Jeff Foxworthy joke — that is, until
he managed to slip something charming or profound
into the conversation. Otherwise, he was a truck
driver, which meant he identified with the working
man.
Elites, therefore, tended to underestimate him. But,
despite too many flaws to count, my dad had a strong
sense of dignity and fundamental equality. He
greeted those who overstepped with a simple question
that is woefully under-appreciated today:
Who do you think you are?
Let’s dive a little deeper into the wisdom of this
question.
Imagine living under a regime:
Whose authorities force
you to bankroll both your censors and the
propagandists you despise;
That punishes those who
reveal state secrets, but not state actors
keeping secrets from the people;
That requires you, your
children, and your grandchildren to suck
bilgewater out of over-leveraged banks while the
bankers dine at Le Gratin;
Whose officials force
you to pay for your children to be taught that
lies are truths and truths are lies;
That mandates you put
woefully under-tested therapies into your body
to keep your job.
One could go on ad nauseam.
We don’t have to imagine living under such a regime.
But with each point, that simple question rings in
my head — my father’s baritone voice booming with
rectitude:
Who do you think you are?
As our Empire sinks into the sea, red with blood and
ink, we export war machines and sleep under the
watchful eyes of a doddering fool and a thousand
Col. Jesseps who remind us daily that we can’t
handle the truth.
Who do you think you are?
As the newspapers of record abandon their
adversarial beats, what’s left of journalism has
been taken up by comedians with podcasts. The rest —
these boot-licking Columbia j-school grads — skin
their knees trying to get a taste of power and
prestige.
Who do you think you are?
As the Central Banks run dry, their functionaries
wait in obscurity as predators to configure a system
Mussolini would have cheered. Soon a few monstrous
technocrats — the same ones who made this mess —
will control every penny in your Fed account and,
therefore, you.
IT'S INTERESTING TO READ a piece like this on the American
Institute for Economic Research website. It's not that the site never
hosts non-economic essays, nor ever any that show a bit of bristle. But
Borders is here channeling the spirit of that tag line of Joe Shilling's
that I liked enough to highlight in the victories post above ("War is
when your government tells you who the enemy is. Revolution is when you
figure it out for yourself."). In so doing, he steps a bit beyond the
more typical, often rather tweedy, demeanor of AIER.
It's a good step. As little as anyone
wants to have to face it, righteous, liberty and
proper-law-respecting Americans need to come to
terms with the fact that the American experiment is
being shut down around us by its enemies-- our
enemies-- while we focus on Netflix and the like. We
cannot afford that kind of complacency. As Justice
William O. Douglas warned us while we were still
enjoying sunnier weather:
"As nightfall does not come at once,
neither does oppression. In both instances, there's
a twilight where everything remains seemingly
unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must
be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest
we become unwitting victims of the darkness."
I want to chime in on this important
theme by sharing the title essay of my second book:
Upholding the Law
There’s a wonderful old
fable called “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, in which a
pair of scoundrels con money from a foolish
sovereign by claiming the ability to spin clothes
from pure gold. The Emperor, eager to possess what
he should have known was impossible, gives the
conmen his gold and a room in which to work, but
prudently endeavors to supervise them through the
eyes of various members of his court, whom he
dispatches at intervals to observe and report on the
progress of the work. However, the two conmen,
though actually engaging in nothing but pantomime,
deploy sheer audacity and a subtle exploitation of
the human psychology to successfully oblige each
such officer to conclude that the imaginary clothes
which the pair claim to be sewing are visible to
everyone but himself.
The scheme is masterfully
cunning. Expansive and eloquent descriptions of the
non-existent work are presented to each courtier
arriving to conduct an inspection. At the same time,
each is informed of an especially marvelous property
of the cloth: It is possessed of such subtle
perfection that it is invisible to all but the most
capable and competent! Thus each inspector is
discouraged from believing the evidence of his own
eyes, or at least from voicing any doubts about the
conmen’s work.
Quite the contrary, in
fact. Each victim of the scam is seduced into
personal participation in its furtherance--
vociferously parroting the conmen in description and
praise of the magnificence of the cloth, and thereby
supporting the pressure on his fellows to do the
same. The cunning process instantly created a
community of interest in the perpetuation-- even the
elaboration-- of the illusion.
So, the fantasy is spun and
thrives, not only unchallenged but ever-fed, until
the Emperor himself, having been told over and over
by all of his subordinates what wonderful work the
conmen are doing (and, no less than any other,
unwilling to raise doubts regarding his own fitness
for office), effusively praises the invisible
garments with which he is at last fitted. Chilly,
but entirely taken in, the naked sovereign marches
into the public square to show off his new finery.
There, the townspeople, also aware of the “special
properties” of the cloth, ooh and ah.
Like the courtiers before
them, the commoners carefully suppress themselves,
and declaim to each other as to the magnificence of
the Emperor’s new clothes, until at last a young
child, unencumbered by pride, speaks the plain truth
revealed to his own eyes and announces that the
Emperor has no clothes! The spell is broken, and
everyone awakens, but the thieves have snuck away
with the gold, which they have, of course, simply
been pocketing all the while.
I hope that everyone shares
this most educational tale with their children. This
fable offers much insight into human behavior in
general, and the behavior of placeholders in a
hierarchy (as opposed to free-agents in a
meritocracy) in particular. More importantly, this
clever allegory can help us understand the simple
mechanics of one of the key processes by which the
rule of law is being corrupted in America today, and
what it is that each of us is called upon to do in
order that the law may be restored and upheld.
I will also urge everyone to re-read
'Why It Matters' and 'Finale' in their copy of
CtC. We are well into the twilight of which
Douglas warns. The good things we have enjoyed all
our lives as Americans, and which were hard-won with
the blood and treasure of our ancestors, have been
slipping away from us for many years now. Being
stolen away, actually.
We are, in fact, at the inflection
point where we either go out with merely a whimper,
or we pop open our eyes and say "NO!" to the
thieves. No institutional structure is going to
spare us from that decision, and our children will
rightly curse us if we make the wrong choice.
Part of making the right choice is
coming to terms with the unpleasant truth that "the
state", that thing in which we we have grown up
immersed, is not our defender against villainy, but
is, rather the chief tool of the villains. There is
a reason the Founders and Framers designed what they
meant to remain a small,
low-harm-and-abuse-potential form of government and
warned us in every way they could not to let that
design become corrupted and the state to grow large.
We have dropped the ball on that one
(as did the prior couple of generations), and we
need to grab it up again. Happily those prescient
Founders and Framers left us the tools needed to
take care of a big part of the problem by
shrinking the Leviathan state.
You can see and learn all about this
solution-- and how it will play-out under its own
relentless logic-- in
this little two-page paper. Read it, think about it,
share it.

EVEN AS ARDENT A STATIST as Abraham
Lincoln, in announcing his willingness to burn the Southern states to the ground in order to
keep them paying the tariff for the benefit of Northern interests in
his first inaugural address on March 4, 1861, paid at least lip
service to the Founders design of leaving control over the fuel
available to feed the fires Washington wants to light in the hands
of the individual citizenry when he said, "Doing this I deem to
be only a simple duty on my part; and I shall perform it, unless my
rightful masters, the American people, shall withhold the requisite
means..."

Do you
know someone truly steeped in the Kool-Aid?
I mean
someone who finds it easier to believe that the far-better-educated,
far-more-suspicious-of-government Americans of a hundred years ago were
complete morons who granted authority to the state to take whatever it
wished from themselves and their posterity than to imagine that they
themselves simply misunderstand the true nature of the income tax? Even
while knowing that their beliefs about the tax are derived entirely from
the representations of those who profit from those beliefs (like tax
bureaucrats and "tax professionals")?
Do you
know someone like that? Shake them awake with the latest (sixteenth)
edition of
CtC!
If
CtC were actually
right, it would mean the government's been concealing and
denying and suppressing the truth for years
on end, and everybody knows THAT would never happen...
(Edward Snowden, come home! It was all just a bad dream; there really is
No Such Agency!)
Btw, a copy of
CtC from anywhere except the link above may not
be a current edition. CHECK. It matters. Also, there ARE no
e-book, Kindle or .pdf versions of
CtC.
Don't get taken in by efforts to sell you-- or even give you for
free-- any such thing.
May 2- In 1670, Charles II of England
grants a perpetual charter to the Hudson's Bay Company to ply the fur-trade from
North America. In 1863, General Stonewall Jackson is accidentally wounded by
his own troops, and dies of complications eight days later. In 1885, Good
Housekeeping magazine goes on sale. In 1918, General Motors acquires the
Chevrolet Motor Company. In 1932, Jack Benny's radio show hits the airwaves.
In 1945, Berlin falls to the Soviet Army. In 1998, the European Central Bank is
founded in Brussels.

fire destroys much of Jacksonville, Florida. Unhindered by FEMA, the city is
quickly rebuilt. In 1916, captured leaders of Irish Easter Risings are executed
by the British. In 1921, West Virginia imposes the first union state sales
tax. In 1946, the International Military Tribunal for the Far East begins
trials of Japanese officials for offenses such as authorizing the waterboarding
and other inhumane acts to which captured enemy combatants were subjected.
Ultimately seven are executed and 16 are given life sentences.

PRO TIP: If I were the IRS and I wanted to

Illuminating Anniversaries of this week:
May 4- In 1886, a day after police had fired into a crowd of
striking McCormick Harvesting Machine Company workers-- killing at least two, a
bomb is thrown at police trying to break up a subsequent labor rally in
Haymarket Square in Chicago, Illinois. 8 are killed and 60 are wounded; the
police open fire on the crowd again, resulting in an unknown number of
casualties. In 1932, Al Capone begins serving an eleven-year sentence for tax
evasion. In 1970, National Guardsmen shoot into a crowd of unarmed students
protesting the Vietnam War at Kent State University, killing four and wounding
nine.
If you're not talking this one up everywhere and
helping generate a buzz, you don't really want liberty and the
rule of law...

Illuminating Anniversaries of this week:
May 7- In 1429, Joan of Arc wins her
first major military victory, ending the Siege of Orleans. In 1824, Beethoven's
Ninth Symphony premiers in Vienna. In 1915, the British ship Lusitania is sunk
by a German U-boat with Americans on board. The fact that the ship, which was
purportedly a passenger and non-military cargo ship, was actually carrying a
large load of munitions from the U.S. to Britain was kept from the civilians
encouraged to take passage by U.S. and British officials, despite specific
warnings from the German government that the ship would be viewed as a military
target. The expected sinking and loss of American lives were then used to
encourage popular and Congressional support for American entry into World War
I. In 1992, Michigan gets around to ratifying what then becomes the 27th
Amendment to the United States Constitution (barring mid-term Congressional pay
raises)-- 203 years after it was first submitted to the several states for
approval. In 1998, Mercedes-Benz buys Chrysler for $40 billion. In 2017, after
7 years of grossly-unjust imprisonment, United States war-crime whistleblower
Chelsea Manning was released from federal prison on a qualified commutation of
the remaining 28 years of his sentence by outgoing President Barak Obama 5
months before.

Hendrickson is also a widely-read essayist on
matters of politics, public policy and law; many of these works
are collected in his second book, Upholding
the Law And Other Observations. He is a member of Mensa;
an
award-winning artist; and has paid his dues as a youth
soccer coach. He is a long-time political activist as well, and
has served as co-chair and platform convention delegate of
Michigans largest county Libertarian Party organization; as a
consultant to the National Right to Work Foundation and Citizens
for a Sound Economy; as a member of the Heartland Institute; and
as a member of the International Society for Individual
Liberty. He is a frequent radio-show guest on stations across
the country.
Hendrickson's business career has included nearly a
decade-and-a-half at the leading edge of the renewable-energy
industry, both as Director of Purchasing and Materials
Management and member of the R&D board at Starpak Energy
Systems, the mid-west's then-largest solar heating and
energy-recovery-and re-utilization company; and as founder and
president of AFJ Inc., a high-efficiency lighting design,
manufacture and installation firm.
Beginning in the mid-1990s and continuing for the
twelve years before his present full-time focus on the
restoration of the rule of law in America, Hendrickson directed
purchasing activities for the $84 million-a-year
multi-family-housing division of the Farmington Hills, Michigan
branch of Edward Rose and Sons, with responsibility for 18,000+
apartments, direct supervision of 35 technicians and agents, and
incidental authority over several hundred divisional workers.
He also ran the division's 10 cable television earth-station and
distribution systems in four states, and designed and
administered the company's website.
On rather the other end of the spectrum, amidst
these more mundane pursuits Hendrickson co-founded and was the
primary creative force behind a small
board- and
card-game company that enjoyed a modest success for several
years.
Hendrickson makes his home in southeast Michigan,
with his wife and two children. He is currently working on his
next book.
