Ever wonder why so many in Congress are so protective of this privacy-violating
provision?
February 3- In 1690, the Massachusetts
colonial government issues the American continent's first paper "money". In
1809, the Illinois Territory is formed. In 1913, the 16th Amendment-- the most
deliberately misrepresented Constitutional amendment of all, bar none-- is
declared ratified. All the amendment did was overrule the limited effect of the
Pollock v. Farmer's Loan & Trust ruling by the Supreme Court in 1895, which had
prevented dividends and rent connected with the exercise of federal privilege
from being subject to the tax like other "income" had been for decades based on
a view the court took of their relationship of those particular gains to the
sources from which they are derived. To learn the whole story of the 16th
Amendment, click here. In
1940, Pierre Laval is installed as head of government in Vichy, France, by the
occupying Nazis. In 1959, the music dies in Iowa. In 1966, the unmanned Soviet
Luna 9 spacecraft successfully lands on the Moon. In 1969, Yasser Arafat is
appointed head of the PLO by the Palestinian National Congress. In 1971, Frank
Serpico is shot, but survives to testify about the drug-war-fueled corruption of
fellow New York City police officers. In 2023, a freight train carrying toxic
chemicals derails and spills its cargo in East Palestine, Ohio. The Biden
administration responded with yawns and complete disinterest as clouds of poison
gas fill the region and local waterways-- including the Ohio river-- are heavily
polluted.

...possibly explaining adamant congressional
support for this unpopular and obviously illegal provision.
AS PART OF LAST WEEK'S SENATE HEARINGS
on the appointment of Tulsi Gabbard to the post of
Director of National Intelligence, section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Act (FISA) got some renewed attention.
As always, nearly the whole of the Senate
(like nearly the whole of the House, when the
subject arises there) exhibited zombie-like fixation
on protecting the provision.
Somehow, the legislators barking to
protect the government's ongoing mass violation of
the Constitution never get questioned as to why they
are so strongly supportive of these crimes.
Doubtless, everyone who might be expected to ask
harbors a back-of-the-mind assumption that the
answer would concern fears of Jihadist sleeper-cells
amongst us and the like, and assumes that's a
sufficient rationale in today's corrupted political
climate.
THE DANGER OF CRIMINAL PLOTS, though--
"terrorist" or otherwise-- has been perpetual,
present as much when the Fourth Amendment was
adopted as today. That danger is plainly
insufficient reason to suspend the Amendment's
protections, and concern about it is insufficient as
an explanation of
Congressional enthusiasm for that suspension.
Further, this near-universal
Congressional enthusiasm for violating American
privacy rights is a relatively new thing.
Just fifty years ago, the exposure of
similar Fourth Amendment violations by the executive
branch led to the famous
Church committee investigation and universal
support for a stern reining-in of Fourth Amendment
crimes. This, despite the violators' excuse of
widespread domestic violence over the prior years,
including highly-publicized and vigorously-condemned
bombings and other acts terrorizing Americans at
home by groups like the Weather Underground, the New
World Liberation Front and the Symbionese Liberation
Army.
During 1971 and 1972 alone, the FBI
reported 2,500 bombings throughout the country--
many, if not most, directed at government and other
institutional targets. In light of these facts it
cannot be argued that the attacks of 9/11 were a
game-changer as to actual public and congressional
support for the defenestration of the Fourth
Amendment, however they may be portrayed by the
government-stenographer media.
And yet, section 702 of FISA has
successfully been renewed each time it faced an
expiration deadline over the years since its
adoption in 2008 as part of the FISA Amendments Act,
with all opposition to renewal increasingly resisted
and denounced as the years have gone by. Why?
WELL, I HAVE AN ANSWER TO PROPOSE, now
that Thomas Massie has revealed that
every member of Congress has for some years now been
equipped with an AIPAC (Israel lobby) "handler".
That revelation
can be combined with the one by Edward
Snowden, which I have long had posted
here, that since 2009-- just after
the adoption of section 702-- the NSA has been
passing along to Israel its constant massive haul of
the secrets of American citizens.
The data being shared is complete, and
completely raw-- that is, unredacted and with names
included.
To
put it plainly, section 702 makes possible the
Israeli government's manipulation of every member of
Congress, every appointed official, every
highly-placed bureaucrat, every member of the
judiciary and every political donor of any
significance who is in any way vulnerable to
blackmail or psychological pressure, or to the
influence of any other person who can be made to
bring that influence to bear upon the target.
And
every member of Congress has an AIPAC handler
constantly at his/her ear, instructing that
legislator how to vote (along with the cost of
disobedience). The preservation of the means by
which all this is made possible would understandably
be high on the list of priorities.
(It must be further noted that the NSA data handed
over to Israel includes dirt hoovered-up on
officials in the UK, Australia, Canada and New
Zealand as well as those in the US, perhaps
explaining the US-like servile behavior of these
other countries toward Israel.)
NEEDLESS TO SAY, this notion about why
section 702 is so widely defended in Congress is mere speculation on
my part. No Congressman has yet stepped up and held
forth on exactly what their AIPAC handler whispers
in their ear concerning section 702 preservation or
anything else.
But the facts are as I have presented
them, here. I think these dots
do connect up into an informative and
important picture.

If you thought things were bad when "more Americans got
their news from NBC than any other source", hold onto your hat. You
ain't seen nothin' yet.
SADLY, IT APPEARS THAT the embrace and
integration of AI into more and more aspects of
everyday life in America is about to expand
dramatically, rather than diminish, as it ought to
do. Whether the robot is a clunky, expensive and
secretive American-built model or a leaner Chinese
version is irrelevant-- any substitution of
artificially-created content (by which is meant
content generated by aggregation alone rather than
by an actual mind, capable of discernment,
realization, humility, epiphanies and moral and
legal liability, is bad.
The fact that "artificial intelligence"
aggregations can and will have an enormous footprint
in the information space and can and will be
manipulated from one central input/control point,
with the doctored material adulterating all content
at all points of access like a drop of black ink
added to the center of a "Spin
Art" canvas, makes those aggregations, and their
shouldering aside of more expensive human
content-generating competitors, dangerous.
Think of life in an information
environment in which notoriously manipulated and
agenda-serving Wikipedia is the ONLY source of
information available, or the only one to which
everyone resorts on every question. It
promises to be the actual realization of Orwell's
Ministry or Truth in Nineteen Eighty-four.
As I have written on this matter
before, all AI generated-content, or anything in
which AI was relied-upon in producing content,
should be prominently labeled as such, by law, with
stiff penalties for violation. Even that won't be of
lasting benefit, of course.
People will soon become inured to the
cautions and will eventually not notice them at all,
much less understand the reason for them or the
danger against which they are meant. But they will
offer some benefit, for a while, maybe buying us
enough time to put in place a real solution to the
AI threat.

WHILE ON THE SUBJECT OF CURRENT EVENTS, the tragedy at Reagan International
last week reminds me of something I meant to write
about more than a month ago after I flew home from
Denver in the mid-plane emergency row of a Southwest
737. I was struck at the time by just how small that
emergency opening is-- only about 20" wide and about
36" high.
Think about those dimensions, and think
about those passengers who take up two seats (or
more) accommodating their obese bulk.
Those "big" people could
not get through the mid-plane emergency exits.
But in an emergency, some would head
for those exits anyway, and anyone behind them would
not make it out.
Even if sensible enough to head for the
larger exits at either end of the aircraft (which
still might only be negotiable with a fatally-slow
sideways sidle), those oversize passengers risk
getting stuck in the aisle, or navigating it so much
more slowly than a healthy person as to again
imperil other passengers.
This observation is not a gratuitous
slap at the overweight. As a general rule, anyone's
willingness to live that way is no one's business
but their own, in most circumstances.
But when the circumstances turn a
personal problem into a public hazard, it's a
different story. Anyone who can't dive through a 20"
x 36" opening should not be allowed on a Boeing 737,
or any other plane similarly equipped.

ONE MORE THING: DONALD TRUMP HAS GENERATED a renewed
buzz in certain circles by repeating last week his
notion of eliminating the income tax and replacing
it with a revenue tariff. Ignorance of the true
nature of both types of tax lies at the heart of the
misplaced excitement.
The tariff misunderstanding is a
bit nuanced. Though many do not, a lot of folks get
the fact that tariffs are paid by consumers-- either
to importers or to domestic producers of competing
products (if any). Those domestic producers are enabled by
the tariff to raise their prices to just under the
tariff price of the imported good, which without the
tariff would be cheaper.
That is, a widget imported from China
to sell
for $1 would normally compel domestically-made
widgets to sell for no more than $1. But when the
Chinese widget is burdened with a 25% tariff
(raising the price to $1.25), the domestic widget
can (and will) now be sold for $1.24, amounting to a
24% tax on the consumer. By this means, tariffs
operate as the equivalent of a national sales tax on
all affected products (and the Trump proposal seems
to be for a universal tariff, meaning a vast array
of consumer goods would be so taxed).
This brings up the other aspect of
Trump's tariff notion misunderstood by many: the
plan calls for maintaining tax revenue at its
current levels (at least). So, while some
historically-literate (but politically naive) folks
have dreams of a Jeffersonian revenue tariff
financing all federal expenses while touching only a
few per cent of GDP, these really are mere dreams.
The Trumpian notion
contemplates a revenue tariff gathering in 35%+ of
GDP. That is to say, a national sales tax of the
scope and depth capable of capturing that amount of
the national wealth.
THEN THERE IS THE MISUNDERSTANDING of
the income tax that fuels popular support for the
misunderstood tariff plan. That income tax
misunderstanding-- the false belief that the tax
reaches all earnings, rather than only those
proceeding from the privately-profitable use of
public resources-- has allowed tax agencies at the
federal and state level to abusively capture wealth
from all working and investing Americans for decades
now and generated misdirected hatred for the tax. (Learn
the truth here.)
When properly understood (and hence
with proper application of the tax enforced), the
income tax is enthusiastically supported by the
American people. This is powerfully illustrated by
the amendment of the Constitution in 1913, by a
population very familiar with the proper application
of the tax, just to allow its operation to resume
after suspension in 1895 due to an errant Supreme
Court ruling which the 16th Amendment was
specifically designed to overturn (as
just acknowledged by the Supreme Court last June
in Moore v. United States).
All told, then, Trump's tariff plan is
a wolf in sheep's clothing, trotted out to "solve" a
problem that only exists because the federal and
state governments have been nurturing and exploiting
false notions about the income tax. The real
solution to the perceived problem (and to much else
that is wrong in America today) is to restore
widespread understanding of both tariffs and income
taxes.
BTW, FRIENDS, THIS IS A PARTICULARLY RICH WEEK of
illuminating anniversaries. Check them out, starting

Not Letting This "Crisis" Go To Waste...
...an important action item opportunity.
FRIENDS, THE SPORADIC EASINGS of the despotic measures to
which most of the country has been subjected under
since the onset of the
COVID-19 hobgoblin narrative should not be
allowed to bleed off the head of steam you probably had been developing.
The offenses happened, and they're far from over. Stay hot.
And while you are all warmed up, and while others, if
they're smart, are just as hot, I'd like you to send an email (and
Facebook post, or whatever) with the following content to everyone you
can (with a request that they pass it along, in turn):
[Name], since March of 2020 you've
watched as over-fed state power has been used to literally destroy
classical Western civilization and impose a new despotic paradigm. No
dissent or debate permitted-- no permission or agreement sought.
YOU KNOW where this will end up if the arrogant
state power being used to make this happen isn't radically diminished in
size, influence, resources and popular support, and exposed as an
opportunistic exploiter of legal ignorance (an ignorance which it has
been nurturing in the average mind for decades).
Those things having not yet happened, you
should be quaking in your boots-- and you probably are.
Isn't it time-- and past time-- for you to
begin helping to make those desperately-needed defensive changes take
place? There is only one way these things can happen short of a
who-knows-what we'll-end-up-with explosion of violence. I'm going to
show it to you.
When you're done with that reading, you'll know
what to do next.
BTW, REMEMBER, ALSO, THAT EVERY AMERICAN has lately been given a stark lesson in the fact
that government officials at all levels will lie to you and violate the
law without batting an eye. They will do so any time it serves their agenda, and
you don't call them out for it.
If you know anyone who has been persisting in denial on the
truth about the income tax, you know such nonsense is usually be
grounded in some version or another of, "That can't be true..." or "They
would never do something like that...". Now's the time to put a pin in
that delusional bubble.
As the C19 hoax has starkly shown, "that" certainly CAN be true, and they
certainly WOULD do something
like that.
Use this evidence in all your
outreach efforts.
"It is not the function of our Government to keep the
citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to
keep the Government from falling into error."
-United States Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson
(Deceitful efforts to discourage Americans from
learning the truth about the "income tax")
FOR ALL THE YEARS SINCE 2003 when
CtC was first published, the government has engaged in a
concerted effort to frighten people away from its truths. This
effort involves official government websites and press releases
touting an occasional court ruling that appears to be at odds
with some
CtC-revelation (but without details sufficient to expose the
real substance of the ruling)--
and sometimes even more mendacious behavior.
Are the presentations and
resources offered on this site and in my other work of any value to you?
Tim Kendrick has posted
a video
on YouTube regarding donations. I didn't know what to do about
it to begin with; I don't do what I do intending for anyone to
feel obligated in any way.
But of course, no one IS obligated. I will continue
to make my work freely-available here, and in my books for only
the cost of a cheap paperback.
Thus, even though I post it here below, Tim's very
thoughtful personal resolution and encouragement to others is
just an invitation for consideration by those who may not be
conscious of the fact that I can't do what I do without support.
No one is to feel any pressure from it; if it moves anyone to
act let it be solely because it seems right.
All-in-all, just be the sort of person for others
that you would go to yourself for trustworthy leadership.
Leadership is a challenge. But it's not
complicated, and you can do it.

Are You Having Trouble Spreading The
Word?
SKEPTICISM (SOMETIMES INVOKED BY FEAR) IS TO BE
EXPECTED when you're trying to explain to someone that
everything they've been encouraged their whole lives to
believe about something as entrenched and significant as the
income tax is basically nonsense. So here's a way to help
cut through the resistance:
Ask your listener how he or she would react if
you were to show an announcement from the Commissioner of
Internal Revenue admitting that the tax doesn't apply to the
earnings of most Americans and is misapplied most of the
time because people don't understand how it works? Or how
about if you showed a ruling from the Supreme Court saying
the same?
Now you just have to explain that
you're going to show exactly those things-- but because
the state really doesn't want people to know this, these
things haven't been said quite as forthrightly as we would
all wish. It's going to take a bit more work to take these
admissions in than is sufficient for just reading a press
release. But it'll be worth the effort...
IF YOU'RE NOT SPREADING THIS LINK with every bit of

families and community groups, your neighbors, your

The LA Fires: The "Social
Contract" Is Nonsense, And No One Is Coming To Save
You
by Ryan McMaken
Possibly one of the most inane phrases
ever uttered about modern governments is Oliver Wendell Holmes’s
oft-quoted phrase stating that “taxes are what we pay for
civilized society.”
This reflected the naïve view, often
pushed in the eighteenth and nineteenth century, of the
so-called “social contract.” According to this idea, we pay
taxes, and in return the state provides order, protection, and
all the blessings of civilization.
Presumably included among
all those taxpayer-funded civilizational “services”
provided by governments one can find “fire
suppression.” But, you wouldn’t know it from
watching tens of thousands of residents flee their
homes in southern California and Los Angeles County
as fires rage. As of Wednesday at midday, five
different fires in southern California are still zero-percent
contained. Nor is this some hard-to-reach rural
area with few roads and little infrastructure. These
fires are right in the middle of suburban cities and
towns. Yet, it is all apparently too much for
lavishly-funded government agencies to handle.
Indeed, government authorities in Los
Angeles County and California had neglected infrastructure to
the point that it became useless in many areas in terms of
battling the blazes. In the early hours of the Palisades fire,
firefighters found themselves hamstrung by a lack
of water from fire hydrants. In spite of years of warning
about the growing threat of fires in the region, California
bureaucrats couldn’t be bothered with upgrading the water system
to ensure reliable water supply and pressure in case of a major
fire.
Since 2022, California firefighters
have been bragging that they’ve been sending
fire suppression equipment to Ukraine. This wasn’t paid for
by firefighters, of course. It was funded by the taxpayers.
Meanwhile, the
mayor of the City of Los Angeles—who
is paid more than $300,000 per year—is on a taxpayer-funded
trip to Ghana to attend the inauguration of the new president of
that west African country. What possible benefit this could
bring to ordinary people in Los Angeles remains a mystery, but
residents are certainly paying for what is essentially a
vacation for the mayor.
Before she left for her vacation,
however, the mayor supported large budget
cuts to fire suppression services, as well as to other basic
services like sanitation and public works. This was necessitated
by the city’s budget crisis stemming from years of waste,
mismanagement, and legal settlements. In 2024, the
city owes $47 million to residents who have sustained
injuries from the city’s crumbling infrastructure and police
incompetence.
Moreover, it’s [not] hard
to hire sufficient fire suppression workers when
unionized firefighters earn outrageously inflated
government salaries. As The Daily Mail reported
in 2024, the LA fire captain Jason Getchius
earned $823,000 in 2023. In California it is not
unusual to find government employees earning
mid-six-figures by milking the government overtime
system.
The police are notorious
for doing this as well. Naturally, these enormous
salaries for police don’t translate into low crime
rates.
The woman in charge of
water and public works in Los Angeles, Janisse
Quinones, makes
at least $750,000. Like most government
officials, her salary does not correlate with her
competence.
This is the real reason we
pay taxes: to keep the ruling class (high ranking
officials) and the larger parasite class (government
employees and government contractors) living
lifestyles of relative opulence and ease while
private sector workers toil to produce all the real
wealth. If it seems worse in California it’s because
the grift is at a far more advanced stage there. For
example, government services like fire suppression
and infrastructure are cut in order to fund lavish
pensions for state employees. This is true in many
states, but it’s especially
bad in California.
OF COURSE, OUTRAGEOUS SALARIES for incompetent
performance, grift and other personal corruptions are not the
only things paid for by taxes. There are also proxy wars of
hegemonic aggression, bribery of foreign states and of the
several states to buy accession to Washington's demands, and the
financing of hob-goblin generation by which the American people
are terrorized into shoveling enormous sums into the coffers of
national security state apparatchiks and sacrificing their
liberties in hopes of safety from the contrived threats.
Oh, and yes, taxes also pay for courts
in which disputes can be settled and other public
institutions by which crime can be controlled, the
borders secured, and other common goods secured
which are generally agreed to be necessary for the
maintenance of a civilized society. So Holmes, as
much as the man was an utter ass whose judicial
opinions should be tossed wholesale, was not
entirely wrong about that point.
The real issue underlying McMaken's
very well-taken complaint is the VOLUME of taxes
collected, and hence the money available for all the
outrageous salaries, the grift, and the corruption
(as well as the other evils I have added to the
list). Cut that volume down from today's ~45% of GDP
to the 9% or so taken by government-- at all levels
combined-- prior to
the
engineered misunderstanding of the income tax
accomplished in the early 1940s, and every bit
of that bad behavior would screech to a halt.
And we CAN make that change. Indeed, the American people, individually, are equipped
by the Founders and Framers with the power to shrink
and discipline the central state even in the face of
inevitable official resistance.
All the people need to do is
learn how and why to say "NO!" to improper
applications of the income tax, in a
practically-meaningful manner and context.
Those of us who have already received that
liberating and empowering lesson need to help the rest of the
American population quickly understand
the
truth about the tax, such that even though Washington remains in
the hands of immoral establishment hacks and self-servers, it
finds its ability to just carry on with chronic irresponsibility severely curtailed.
Such an effort is easier than ever now, with the US Supreme Court
having just reaffirmed its 108-year-old ruling
in Brushaber v. Union Pacific RR. Co.,
acknowledging the truth about the income tax
revealed in
CtC.
Remember, the arising and sustenance of
the Leviathan state monster is a direct result of
the successful mis-administration
of the US income tax laws.
Shrinking that
Leviathan state monster merely involves the
reversing of that misadministration-- something that
can be done by individual Americans, acting
one-by-one, with no help or approval of any
government official. Each such act makes use of
state-restraining tools baked into the
Constitutional cake by the Founders and Framers, and
each such act WILL make a difference, however small.
Most important, each such act will absolve the actor
from the dishonor of participation in the heinous
crimes their resources would otherwise finance.
All that is required is some knowledge
(which can be gotten
here),
and some courage-- the latter of which naturally
blooms in the hearts of real Americans when given
the nourishment of the former. As the saying goes,
America is the Land of the Free because it is the
Home of the Brave.

EVEN AS ARDENT A STATIST as Abraham
Lincoln, in announcing his willingness to burn the Southern states to the ground in order to
keep them paying the tariff for the benefit of Northern interests in
his first inaugural address on March 4, 1861, paid at least lip
service to the Founders design of leaving control over the fuel
available to feed the fires Washington wants to light in the hands
of the individual citizenry when he said, "Doing this I deem to
be only a simple duty on my part; and I shall perform it, unless my
rightful masters, the American people, shall withhold the requisite
means..."

Are You Ready For More Power?
"Peter Hendrickson has done it again! 'Upholding The
Law' does for individual liberties what 'Cracking the Code' did
for tax law compliance: exposes the reader to the unalienable
truth!"
-Jesse Herron, Bill Of Rights Press, Fort Collins, Colorado
Do you
know someone truly steeped in the Kool-Aid?
I mean
someone who finds it easier to believe that the far-better-educated,
far-more-suspicious-of-government Americans of a hundred years ago were
complete morons who granted authority to the state to take whatever it
wished from themselves and their posterity than to imagine that they
themselves simply misunderstand the true nature of the income tax? Even
while knowing that their beliefs about the tax are derived entirely from
the representations of those who profit from those beliefs (like tax
bureaucrats and "tax professionals")?
Do you
know someone like that? Shake them awake with the latest (sixteenth)
edition of
CtC!
If
CtC were actually
right, it would mean the government's been concealing and
denying and suppressing the truth for years
on end, and everybody knows THAT would never happen...
(Edward Snowden, come home! It was all just a bad dream; there really is
No Such Agency!)
Btw, a copy of
CtC from anywhere except the link above may not
be a current edition. CHECK. It matters. Also, there ARE no
e-book, Kindle or .pdf versions of
CtC.
Don't get taken in by efforts to sell you-- or even give you for
free-- any such thing.
February 4- In 1789, George Washington
is unanimously elected first President of the United States by the Electoral
College. In 1792, Washington is unanimously re-elected. In 1801, John Marshall
is sworn in as Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. In 1861, delegates from
six of the seceding states form the Confederate States of America. In 1899, the
Philippine-American War begins (a resistance of the Philippine population
against American annexation of the country in which over a million Philippine
citizens will be killed).

PRO TIP: If I were the IRS and I wanted to
discourage people from rebutting allegations that
they had done things I can tax, and wanted to keep them from
successfully reclaiming withheld or paid-in money, I
would salt the "tax honesty" community with
passionate-seeming "legal researchers" who would
warn anyone whose ear they captured that filing a
1040 is a bad idea for one reason or another...

Illuminating Anniversaries of this week:
February 6- In 1782, South Carolina bans paper money, after a
thorough lesson in its inherent and unavoidable evils. In 1788, Massachusetts
becomes the sixth of the several states to ratify the United States Constitution
and authorize the new version of the federal government, under the charter of
which the federal government is given no authority to emit bills of credit or
other paper "money", but may only coin money-- a limited authority in harmony
with the identical prescription that the several states may not emit bills of
credit, nor make any thing but gold or silver a tender in payment of debts. In
1815, New Jersey grants the first American railroad charter (for a line between
New Brunswick and Trenton). In 1959, the first patent is issued for an
integrated circuit; and a Titan ICBM is successfully test-fired for the first
time. In 1989, the "Roundtable" talks begin in Poland, marking the beginning of
the end of communist domination of Eastern Europe.
If you're not talking this one up everywhere and
helping generate a buzz, you don't really want liberty and the
rule of law...

February 7- In 1795, the Eleventh Amendment to the
United States Constitution is ratified. In 1904, a fire breaks out in
Baltimore, Maryland which will burn for 30 hours and destroy more than
1,500 buildings. The city rebuilds and moves on without the assistance
of FEMA. Mayor Robert Lane declares, "To suppose that the spirit of our
people will not rise to the occasion is to suppose that our people are
not genuine Americans. We shall make the fire of 1904 a landmark not of
decline but of progress." He refused all offers of assistance, stating,
"As head of this municipality, I cannot help but feel gratified by the
sympathy and the offers of practical assistance which have been tendered
to us. To them I have in general terms replied, 'Baltimore will take
care of its own, thank you.'". In 1962, the United States bans all
imports from, and exports to, Cuba. In 1964, the Beatles arrive in
America. In 1990, the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party
agrees to relinquish its monopoly on power in the USSR. In 1991, the
IRA fires mortar rounds at Britain's Prime Ministerial offices at 10
Downing Street, London. In 1992, the European Union is created with the
signing of the Maastricht Treaty.

-United States Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson
February 8- In 1692, a doctor in Salem Village,
Massachusetts suggests that two daughters of the village minister may be
suffering from bewitchment. In 1865, Delaware votes to reject the
Thirteenth Amendment and continue the practice of slavery. In 1910, the Boy
Scouts of America is incorporated. In 1922, the first radio is installed in
the White House by President Warren Harding. In 1978, United States Senate
proceedings are broadcast on radio for the first time. In 1993, General
Motors (then a private company) sues NBC over a "Dateline" episode, alleging
that the show's producers rigged GM vehicles to catch fire after crashes.
NBC settles the next day.

Last Word
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude
greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We
seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that

that ye were our countrymen."

Hendrickson is also a widely-read essayist on
matters of politics, public policy and law; many of these works
are collected in his second book, Upholding
the Law And Other Observations. He is a member of Mensa;
an
award-winning artist; and has paid his dues as a youth
soccer coach. He is a long-time political activist as well, and
has served as co-chair and platform convention delegate of
Michigans largest county Libertarian Party organization; as a
consultant to the National Right to Work Foundation and Citizens
for a Sound Economy; as a member of the Heartland Institute; and
as a member of the International Society for Individual
Liberty. He is a frequent radio-show guest on stations across
the country.
Hendrickson's business career has included nearly a
decade-and-a-half at the leading edge of the renewable-energy
industry, both as Director of Purchasing and Materials
Management and member of the R&D board at Starpak Energy
Systems, the mid-west's then-largest solar heating and
energy-recovery-and re-utilization company; and as founder and
president of AFJ Inc., a high-efficiency lighting design,
manufacture and installation firm.
Beginning in the mid-1990s and continuing for the
twelve years before his present full-time focus on the
restoration of the rule of law in America, Hendrickson directed
purchasing activities for the $84 million-a-year
multi-family-housing division of the Farmington Hills, Michigan
branch of Edward Rose and Sons, with responsibility for 18,000+
apartments, direct supervision of 35 technicians and agents, and
incidental authority over several hundred divisional workers.
He also ran the division's 10 cable television earth-station and
distribution systems in four states, and designed and
administered the company's website.
On rather the other end of the spectrum, amidst
these more mundane pursuits Hendrickson co-founded and was the
primary creative force behind a small
board- and
card-game company that enjoyed a modest success for several
years.
Hendrickson makes his home in southeast Michigan,
with his wife and two children. He is currently working on his
next book.
